AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Pm is not a throttled p4, it's something else entierly. Benchmarks show that the centrino and PM's don't run as fast as the P4.
Do some research on tom's
Um, where did he say it was a throttled P4?
He said that the Centrino spec includes a PM, which is correct, I recall. The Centrino package is a bunch of things intel proven to work together, which has a PM cpu.

The pentium M is more or less a P4 with a regulator on it. It only runs as hard as you are demanding it.
well that's what i was referring to when i said it's not a throttled P4. if you're agreeing with me that it's not you should have quoted where i said that. by quoting me it makes it look like that's the statement you're addressing. you should have quoted this:

and if you're agreeing with me then you should say "you're right it's not" rescind the regulator statement and then some further clarification of your position.
Ok guys FYI - a Celeron is a Pentium that didnt pass the Pentium benchmark standards. Basically, it is a p4 that is a little slower.
And yes, they generate alot of heat. I'd go with a Centrino or M. What is happening with many of the laptops in corporate America, is that after a year or two, the hard drive craps out, mostly because of the heat. I change out at least 3 a week on IBM P3 and P4 think pads.
Either one will run just about any application you will need it to. I run Autocad on a Gateway solo 5100 with a 266 P2 with 66mhz bus. Slow are molassis, but it runs.
