    what should i do?!?!

FIRST OFF, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT HOW I'VE WAISTED MY MONEY OR HOW STUPID I AM FOR PUTTING SO MUCH MONEY INTO A CAR. IT'S CALLED A HOBBY.

    so,
    i've got this '91 accord.
i've put quite a bit of money into it, including:

    headers
    full exhaust
    racing cat.
    tint
    taillights
    euro gauges
    paint
    cool air intake

it's a somewhat fast car that did 120 withOUT the headers, racing cat. and exhaust.

i like this car, but it's pushin 153,000 miles.

but seeing as how old it is and how many miles it has, i thought about getting something new.

but, it comes down to this:
keep the car, and do everything else i want to do (headlights, wheels, m3 mirrors, some interior things, lower it - when the 'rents allow me to and maybe eventually an engine swap)

    OR

sell it and look for something around a '96(no lower) with fewer miles, and a bit more mechanically sound - probably another honda or some kind of other foreign car.

i know you're thinking it's going to come down to how much i like spending money on this car and yadda yadda, but i would like to know what you guys would do
    9
sell my car and look for something newer(around 6 grand)
    0%
    9
keep my car and put more money into it
    0%

Have the stock parts? Put them back on. Sell the car. Sell the upgrades seperatley. Buy a new car. Buy PERFORMANCE parts. That means no taillights, no rims [unless you're riding on 15"s and need bigger rims so you can get bigger brakes, but don't go bigger than 17..], no gauges, no paint..

This is what you do get:
      i/h/e
upped struts/springs [coil overs are a waste unless you autox, btw.]
      front/rear sways
      brakes
      rubber

if you see fit, a short shifter and a decent clutch.

other than that, unless you actually race your car and aren't just looking for a "hobby," don't waste any more money.

Oh, and dude, my Sable does 120. 120 isn't great for a top speed.

hehe, I've had my stock 99' Cougar up to just shy of 140 (would've gone faster but i ran into freeway slowdown on the way back from Tucson).

this is also a 91 honda accord. like i said, it wasn't fast, but it's not necassarily slow

          thanks for the advice, teufel

Think about it. I can have a 300hp car, put 2.43 gears in it, big tires, and probably hit close to 200 given enough time to accelerate. Then I take it to the track and run a 16 secont quarter mile. The same car with 4.11 gears and smaller (but wider) tires might top out at 120 and run a 13 secont quarter mile.
What does it mean? Top speed is not an indicator of how good or bad a car is.

153k, looks like you're headed for a motor swap soon anyway :)

So i know i'm not who you were talking to, but what exactly is a dodge spirit ?

I'm assuming its an older car, cause i'm only 16 and have never heard about it before...

And it seemed like you were being a bit joking about it ... are they pieces of crap or something?

Anyway, i wanna know what it is ... got pix ?

It's not a ford, it should run another 100k with some tlc.

Sell the accord, buy something that weighs less and goes more then add suspension and braking. You will be happy.

For 6 grand you can get a decent 91-93 Toyota MR2 Turbo. One of the most under-rated sports cars in the world. Mid-engine, rear wheel drive, two hundred horsepower, etc. Research it a little, you will be impressed.

Damn, that's spot-on advice. Too bad it will most likely fall on deaf ears.

i've looked into these before. a friend of mine had one, and loved it. unfortunately i never to ride in it.

these are impressive cars, but it's going to be ridiculously hard to find an MR2 around here.
