if so how long did it take from the time you filed??

Mine is supposed to come in today. I filed electronically, and set up direct deposit. I got my state refund yesterday. I filed on 1/25/05.

I'm getting about $1300 back, between federal and state, so I'm pretty thrilled!

You gys do realize that when you get a big return you have in fact given the government a zero interest loan for the year? If you setup your witholdings correctly you should get (or pay) as little as possible. If you like the big check setup a vacation club account at your bank. At least you will get interest and have access to the funds if something comes up.

But for those of us who couldn't save if our life depended on it it is sweet.

Of course I got a lot back due to paying tuition so that doesn't effect what comes out of my pay check.

That's half true....since it acumulates over time. I guess you gotta ask yourself, would you like 19$ a week or 1000$ at the end of the year? 19$ won't buy you a TV and unless you're a lucky guy like me that can get a savings account with a 6% APR you're intest will be minimal.
I'm not saying it's wrong, but for all the work it's easier to just loan the goverment a little money.

I'm donating my entire return to VISA. And I'm dept free! NO more payments on the CC's, truck, braces, ANYTHING, it's all savings.

I tend to get about $3-5k back after I do my all my returns.. Gotta love filing 1099s for expenses I have my appt with my accountant on Monday to get mine done.

bornl33t it's more than half true, it's completly true. Even if interest is not the issue, access to funds can be. If you are using the IRS as a savings account you have no access to the funds in case of an emergency. If you are using a traditional bank, you do have full access to them. It simply comes down to "learn to save". Don't let the government do it for you.

But go ahead and do whatever you want to, I'm just trying to inform not condem.
