My New to me Car (# 2 on driveway)

Well i bought a 1987 VW GOLF 2dr with a 1994 1.6L 4cyl N/A IDI Diesel (rebuilt less than 50kms ago)the car itself has 300000kms on it. It is fully Cert/Etested and i also got a spare Running engine and trans along with doors and panels exhuast and wheels and tires. It is very solid and has little to no rust and drives great. It pumps out a Whoping 52hp at 4800rpm and 71lbs/tq at 2500rpm but its plenty to move my butt around to work and back and surprizeingly feels pretty peppy (not fast by any means but ALOT better than i expected). Its a 5 speed stick (YAY) with NO powersteering or ANY amenities. I think this car made some sence for me cause its DEFFINATLY gona save me a TON in fuel cost for my 70kms a day commute to work. I still have my good ol truck as my toy (weekend workhorse) but this things gona do the rest. Oh and at least i keeping my fuel standerdized.

I going to pick it up on wensday and will get pics up as soon as i can. I actually excited about it even though its a butt ugly car with no creature comforts lol its my first regulare acsess to a "CAR" in over 4 years lol.

Oh and as a mechanic for a school bus company i getting all the mechanics to empty the fuel filters we change to fill a jerry can. So i should be getting about 20l (5 gallons) of DIESEL free every two weeks YAY.

This is not going to replace my 94 F250 but rather just be my daily driver giving me more time and flexibility to tinker with my truck .

You're a mechanic and you don't realize the gas comming out of that fuel filter is dirty as can be?

Yep im a mechanic and know it ait GOOD fuel but ask me if kare about the thing. Also as long as ya regularly maintaint the fuel filter on the new car youl be fine.

These old beasts are pretty tolerant for poor quality fuel. worst case senerio i toast and injector and i got 4 spares lol (heck i got a spare engine lol.

Oh ever here the sying the painters house is never painted lol.

Well my truck is Emaculately maintained and taken care oF if i hear so mutch as a squeck its fixed that day. but this cars my mecanics car it is gona be driven EVERY dayand WORKED every day and only fixed when absolutly nessisary besides regulare servises like oil changes and fuel filters brakes and sutch. oh and clutch adjustments as this cars dont even have a hydrulic clutch but rather and old school cabel clutch lol.

          convert it to veggie oil!!!

I hear those old volkswagon diesels actually do pretty good on veggie oil... hell whenever you change your engine oil go ahead and dump that in your tank too!!! LOL gotta love beaters that you don't give a crap about!

For the mileage it gets with diesel, the veggie oil isnt worth the time and money.

Any IDI diesel is well suited to WVO, not just VW's.
