    Computer/Harddrive Issue...

Alright, I got mad spyware on my computer somehow, was too lazy to use a spyware killerizer, so I formatted.

As I went to delete my old partition I deleted the "114" gig, which was my old harddrive using an external housing right now, I tried to format and it gave me an error, then I realized that was all of my backup stuff... ... so I went and formatted my 80 gig that I use... and installed...

Is there anyway to save that info on the external harddrive (It's a standard IDE, just plugged in via a little housing with firewire) I really don't want to lose all of that.

If there's a way, lemme know...

I'm confused. Did you format the external? If you did and you need to recover the data I use Stellar Phoenix Fat & NTFS Recovery

If you just want to save to info that's on it safest bet would be to either create a System Restore point (assuming you are using XP) or you could just buy a hd the size of the info, copy it to that hd and put the hd somewhere safe.

I do that with all my original system configurations. I keep a small 20 gig hd that I use only when I have my system at it original point, copy the whole system to that hd and remove it from the system altogether.

However you recover the data you might still run into problems as the data you are trying to restore/recover might well have this spyware you had the problems with imbedded in it so you will be back to square 1.

The external drive had no spyware, I thought it was my main drive as it showed up as the first one in the windows install.

I have not formatted it, I just deleted the partition via windows setup.

The drive I formatted is my main drive which had the spyware.

I'm wondering if there is a way to recover the data, I didn't format the drive, just deleted the partition.

If you deleted the partition that is WORSE than formatting. Everything is gone. Bummer.

I found a program that can supposedly recover deleted partitions, trying that out now, I honestly CAN NOT lose this information, I had all of my music, all of my videos I've made, all the pictures I've taken, all my school work, all my conversations for trades I've done (as reference if conflict occurs), just everything.

I bought recover2000 and it's been working great so far, i am NOT using this harddrive, it's an external secondary drive, I think I have it figured it out.
