When you get into doing you final shaping around any of the blued parts make sure you put a couple of layers of masking tape over the metal. An errant file or sandpaper can make a mess of your metal real quick. Also if you have decided what kind of buttplate/recoil pad you're using they usually come oversize so it is convenient to put it on and fit it prior to finishing your stock.
