Actually from what I've been told by coaches and stuff, most of these huge people with ripped muscles and stuff don't even lift that much. You get you're muscles to be ripped by doing low weight many reps. Higher weight and less sets don't tone muscle as much, they build it. If you want to see pretty big guys who are very strong also, watch ESPN sometime, or even some NFL Lineman. They're fat, but most probably are physically stronger.

Taking a guy like that requires that you just never, ever let him get ahold of you, or have the opportunity to throw a car at you and pin you(or something).....

Really gotta respect the dedication it requires to get ripped like that. Its not only about hard training, but also a completly different diet. Its really a way of life.

Just taking 'roids doesn't do that to you by itself.

              RainTreeBoy thats definatly not true

My friend has the Ronnie Coleman DVDs, and he puts up some insane weights. I remember one clip where he leg pressed 2250+ pounds

Lifting lower weights and such high reps would probably give you some muscle damage.

What do you mean such high reps? I didn't give a specific number. But that is how you tone muscle, less weights more reps. That's pretty common knowledge. I'm not talking 100 reps at a time, but they're probably not doing 5 reps of 5 sets with high weights to get that muscle.

And I don't doubt that guys like that are strong. I know they're strong, but their looks are a little misleading. If you look at a lot of strong man competitions and power lifting meets, chances are you just won't see guys like that. Look at the olympics, are the power lifters that ripped? No. The guys with all these muscles mostly do it for show, they're body builders, not power lifters. Again, I do not for a second doubt they're strong, it takes a lot to get like that.

I thought you meant doing really low weights with like 40 sets. I know some people that do that and I dont understand it.

                                Kind of, but not really.
