    Constantine-advanced screening

    Hey All.

I just got to see an advanced screening of the movie Constantine. If you like movies involving the occult or demon exorcisms its one to see. Although it seemed to run a tad long, the story was good. The visuals looked great and they give the look of something you would miss and have to take a second glance at, much like what the characters in the film see. The sound and score is good, there is hardly any known pieces of music in it but the subtle music is almost unheard in the film. The main character Constantine is a demon hunter and exorcist fighting along side others who try to maintain a balance between heaven and hells influence on earth. Constantine is a great anti-hero, he smokes, drinks, is rude and uncaring and does his job good. He is definetly close to Hellboy, when it comes to personallity but he isnt much of a cat fancier. Now on to the plot. God and the devil made a deal or so its said for the souls of humans. The strict balance that is in effect keep both parties in check, no heaven on earth and no hell on earth. It looks that heaven plays by the rules but hell is pushing it. Quasidemons and possessed humans do hells bidding. There can be no direct contact by angels or demons to the world we live in. This is where Constantine comes in. He fights off the hordes of demons sneaking into the world of man. By exorcisms, rituals and holy firepower he repels them back to hell. Although Constantine fights for the cause of good he isnt exactly a saint or is treated as one by the higher powers. As the tag line says "Hell wants him. Heaven won't take him. Earth needs him." And this is true throughout the film. It does follow the usual trend of movies and stories similar to it. Ofcourse Constantine is not alone he has several other 'holy warriors' with him with varying specialities and input. Along with a neutral information broker and artifact dealer. Over all this movie is something worth seeing.

If you like high action shootem ups its not really in that category its more of a sedate action film that plays more with cool rituals and practices of the occult, witchcraft and the secret sects of the catholic church. I recommend it for those who liked Hellboy and a few older movies based on the occult/Religion like Stigmata, the Order or Ninth Gate. So Friday when it opens Nation wide and youre looking for a movie to see, check out Constantine.

Oh and by the way stay in your seat for after the credits, there is an extra scene in there.

Dumb question but does Keano actually act or is he playing the same woody surfer with a bad attitude?

I just see him doing Johnny Neumonic but fighting demons this time around.

Well Keanu plays himself, I would say he is a cross between the real world Neo and Johny Mneumonic. Its not really all that scary but could be a good date movie. Keanu does pull off a cool character though and if you like his previous roles youll like this one. I really couldnt imagine another actor for the role.
