    Some Macro Photography

I was bored this evening so I grabbed the camera and macro lens and just started shooting. Here are a few of those photos.

The Color of Music (For those that like "the Blues")

Money in Music (This is something I have too much of)

Time is Money (Too bad the bill in the watch is 4x what the watch is worth )

Which lens? I was looking at getting the 100 f/2.8 for my 20Dc, and since you had given me such good advice before...

BTW, the top is my favorite, with the CD. Nice colors. The last one looks off, not sure if it is the white balance or what.

The last one was under exposed. My tripod is still in my car and I could not keep the DOF wide enough to get everything in and not be too slow to hand hold.

As for the lens. it's the 100 f2.8 USM. It's a great lens, though, Macro is not really my photo style, it is fun to play with.

        Time is Money 2

Any better? I played around with the light (desk lamp) and tried to get more light and not under expose the image.

          Cool photos!
I've always had a unfufilled passion for photography. When I was like really young I had saved up a 100 bucks to buy a reallly cool camera and started taking photos of everything. But the camera actually sucked, and I was too young to know how to take good pictures, so after everything came out like crap I lost interest in it. With the recent advancements in digital cameras I've been meaning to try to pick up a good one. But money...

Definately sharper. I think I will get that lens, I've read that its good for portraits and such, not just macro shots.

It would be great for portraits because of the extreme DOF you can get with it. The biggest problem is that with the 1.6 crop factor it ends up being a tad too telephoto for normal portaits.

I like the second "time is money", but at the same time it feels really incomplete because oyu can't see the whole watch or all of the money; but it's just close enough that it looks like you should be able to see all of one or the other. Does that make any sense?

I LOVE the colors in the first... how did you get the blue light? What camera do you use?

It's probably just the way the light reflected off the CD.

Thats it, since Im selling my house I owe it to myself to get that lens. AND that 70-200 f/2.8L IS

I shoot a Canon 10D. The color on a CD is natural, I just shined a desk lamp on it at the right angle.

The time is money 2 photo I did the crop on purpose, one of the things I did not like about the first one was the fact that you could see the texture on the desk and the center of the money wouldn't stay curled.

The 70-200 2.8L is just an orgasm in glass. My only problem is finding uses for it. It's a bit short for the nature buff but it's too close for any kind of landscape. I use it mostly for action shot, Paintball, kayaking, baseball/softball, etc. It does go everywhere with me though, just incase.

Well, right now I have the 17-40 f/4L and the 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS, so I think the 70-200 will help push my range out. Then I can do a 1.4 extender (though it costs me an f-stop) or a 100-400 f/whatever L a lil bit in the future. I shoot more portrait, action, and landscape anyways. If I ever meet you I'll have to get some pointers, as Im still learning.

This is why people don't like you... I'd love to get that lens, but the budget wont allow it. I'm thinking about the 70-200 F4L as its more affordable for me. You already sold me on the 20D, I picked up the 28-135 IS to go with it. You couldn't do your AKA brainwashing on me, but you got me hooked on a more expensive new drug... I want the 100 f2.8 macro as well. I might pick it up before the 70-200.

Before you go after the macro, I suggest you get a wider lens. I have had the 100 2.8 for over a year now and I can count the number of times I used it on my hands.

I have the 18-55 kit lens that came with the 20D. I also build scale models, so the macro is more useful for me than a wide angle lens is.
