ok, me and my girlfriend want to start a web page (hey now dont even think it!) but we are new to it all and were woundering where to go for good cheap web hosting and some help getting everything set up. where to go to regester a domain name and all...any help, advice, tutorials, general info, and or warnings would be greatly appreciated!!!

Try typing in freestarthost.com they give you amazing stuff for FREE. You can still purchase additions, and the banner that they put on sites they host for free isn't large at all. If you want to see what the banner looks like go to my site . The banner is that small box on the very top of the page. If you got any questions about it just let me know.

maybe what we plan to use it for will help, we want to take a trip to ireland with BUNAC. While i am just gonna sell off my paintball gear for the trip (i will miss it but for 10 months in ireland/england its well worth it).
she however has nothing worth value to sell. So what we wanted to do is set up a page asking for donations ( i have heard of people doing this with great sucess). That would include a photo album/blog (so we can post some stuff up when we are over there and thank people) and some thing so she can keep track of people who donate more than $10 (she is an amazing artist and wants to draw comics one day, so for a thank you to large donations she is thinking about sending one off drawings she can do...) and so when we are over there these people can have access to ALL our photos (again dont think like that, were talking castle tours or happy pub nights not pr0n).
Now a basic web page should work as we can use photo bucket to host the photos and she can just use her live journal as the blog, but we kinda feel is we can get this all out of one hosting service we would be golden....but of course it must be cheap or its not worth the effort.

Well if you look at my page listed above I used a cms that goes by the name LDU. You may notice that there is a gallery plugin that is linked from the left side. The site uses a rankng system (i just happen to have it set the way it is) and there are about 15 actual galleries but you can't see them unless you have a certain rank. You could use that and set it so the peopl who give more can see more. Now it is forum based, but that could possibly be your answer, and if you use that freestarhost that I mentioned I would be more than willing to set it up for you free of charge. And I do know quite a bit of html/css. So if there is any way I can help just let me know.
