    Vegas Trip-recommendations

    Hey All,

I'm planning my first trip to Vegas in a few months. Anybody have any recommendations on places to stay, things to do. etc. Right now we're deciding on one of the following hotels: Luxor, Treasure Island, and the Flamingo. Thanks

All nice hotels but some of them are kinda hard to get to your room.. especially treasure island. May i suggest Monte Carlo. the rooms are very nice for the price and it does not take a half hour to get to your room from the side walk. If you don't mind the old strip (fremont street) i have heard alot of great things about Golden Nugget. I will let you know in ummm 3 weeks what I think of it.
If you make it to vegas before june Blue man group is a must see...

The Luxor is nice, but it's at the very end of the strip. If you're planning to stumble around the city, a hotel that's located more centrally may be a good idea.

Drink alot. Vegas is 12347times funnier while intoxicated. Also, get drunk in taxis taxi drivers are the best if youre blitzed and talking to them about stuff they will go faster and turn off the meter saving you money.

The Flamingo is in a good location right in the middle of the strip. You can then head out in either direction and spend a day and night working your way back.

If you want to save a bunch of money try Priceline and Hotwire. To help you know what you are gettig:

I was trying to find a site called Real hotel room pictures or something like this site below.

Property and Street Maps, Room Pictures

If you have a PDA it would be a good idea to download these.

How many will be going in your group? Cabs are the preferred method to get around because it's a pain to rent a car and then have to walk back to it.

Take the public bus downtown because it's $2-3 versus the $15 cab one way.

If you are planning on seeing any shows check out both of the 1/2 ticket places to see if they have it first. The open at 10:30-11am but start selling at noon. You can check out the inventory early and then decide if you want to get in line. Most of the tickets are actually vouchers that you need to take to the theater box office to trade for reserved seating so go there ASAP to get the best seating.

I've always enjoyed staying at the Imperial Palace. It's a nice place, in the middle of the Strip, and the waitresses dress in little China Doll dresses...man they're hot!!

It's funny. Fremont St. used to BE the strip, now it's just "downtown".

The Luxor is pricey, but worth every penny for the over the top luxury. Being at the bottom of the strip means you can cruise up one side, and back down the other without ever seeing the same thing twice.

Must see's: Treasure Island show. Music Fountains (I think at Ceasars). The indoor ceiling show at Circus Circus. The roller coaster at the Statosphere. The roller coaster at NASCAR. The Harley Davidson shop. Catch a show at the MGM. And don't forget at least one evening on Fremont St. to watch the overhead show.

Vegas is 24/7, so you will always have time to see everything.

Wow...we found the Luxor pretty cheap...pricewise, that is.

Belagio has the fountains every hour before 10pm and the music changes.
It also has the Chulule [sp?] glasswork above the check in area.

There is also the water show in the Ceasers mall, the gondola rides at the Venitian, tigers at the MGM, FX show also at the MGM, Harrahs has the bartenders tossing bottles.

Carnival at the Rio and the bar at the top has a great outdoor view. They also have unfair blackjack tables outside the BiKiNiS bar. Before the bar opens they have dealers in bikini tops dealing and it makes it hard to concentrate.
