Maintaining snowboards between seasons...

I was wondering what I could do to prevent the edges on my board from rusting. I do not want to leave orange trails behind me next season.

Besides that, what do you all do to preserve your gear till your next ride/season? I got a new board last year and want to preserve and keep it in good shape, as it wasn't ooo cheap of a set-up (Burton Custom, with Missions, and eithewr Moto or Freestyle boots).

Any and all help would be appreciated.

well.. me snowboarding for 6 years.. knows alittle sumin about it...

get a dakine edge tuner.. (10.00$) but WELL worth it in the long run.. just use that before you put it up.. i have one..and it helps soo much.. and make sure you store it completly dry..and where it will stay dry! (basements a good place)... ill get you link to the edge tuner soon..

put petroleum jelly on your edges to protech them from moisture, then wipe it off and sharpen your edges when the season comes around

what? i never heard of that be4... i just towles and what not around it..

also, give it a good hot wax be4 you put it up

Yeah, that sounds like an okay idea, but not very feasible. I'd get the jelly all over the place and what not.

I think I'll try putting some of those silica gel packs in my board bag and pick up one of those edge sharpeners.

You guys take off your bindings in between seasons too?

yah.. or else your screws will get rusted and wont stay tight during the season...

btw.. where are you located at(what mountain do you ride)..

Well, I usually go to Wilmette and Alpine Valley in Southern Wisconsin, as Illinois doesn't have many mountains. I try to go to Cascade whenever I can, cause that place rocks.

About the rusting. I haven't had that problem on my old board, only the edges went to hell. In all thruthfullness, i was leaving orange trails behind me for like half of the day. But now I got htis new rig and I want to take care of it for a while.

Hrmmm, would masking off the edges help any?

I just take a bar of wax (the stuff you melt on) and give a few rubs on the edges before I pack away my gear. Try to transport your gear inside a bag or inside the car. Those racks get all that road salt and grime all over them.

You also don't want to store the board leaning on the wall, you don't want some crazy inverted cambering.

btw, I used to frequent Wilmot. It's literally a landfill with dirt and lifts added.
