Question for Army, Doobie or other troops

Hey guys,

I've been wondering what badges US Army troops wear on their berets. Are they all the same, or do they differ by trade or unit? If by unit, at what level? Regiment, brigade, division, corps? Just idle curiosity.

In Canada and the UK they are regimental for the combat arms, and occupation-specific for non-combat troops.

The thingie you see on our berets is a unit crest. It signifies the regiment that your batallion is in, unless youre in a higher echelon unit like brigade or division HQ, which would have a crest for their level unit.

Except for officers, who display their rank on their beret.

I knew that the US SF did that, but was not aware that it was now army-wide.

Our officers have traditionally worn a more ornate version of the regimental badge (e.g., the artillery badge has a little cannon, and on the officers version the wheel spun). In recent years, it was a an embroidered cloth badge where the troops wore a metal one. I understand that soon everyone will be wearing the embroidered badges.
