A teletype machine connected to the mainframe at my father's work.

        http://www.columbia.edu/acis/history/teletype.html

Then, some terminal type one-piece machine with that used 8" 250 kilobyte floppy disks. The first LED handheld "video" games had shown up. I had a better game (and the only one I new of) on the computer at home. NO ONE else I knew owned a computer.

3-4 disks to get the operating system running, no hard drive.

Then the disks SHRANK. 5.25". THen they DOUBLED the capacity of those! (you had to take them out of the drive, flip them over, and put them back in)

Then the first computer with an AMAZING 5MB hard drive!! Then, OH MY GAWD 10MB.

Then about 6 months before everybody we would have the next generation IBM-compatible machine. When we received our 486 my friends were still drooling over the new 386 machines.

I still have one of these:http://www.miniarcade.com/pb/split.htm
        and my Colecovision still works.

No, the turbo button did it job. The computer was designed to always run with the turbo on. The idea was, you turned it off to run some of the apps that ran too fast on the full processor speed. This was handy for the early games who's timers were based on processor cycles:)

The first computer I remember using was a giant laptop with a black and white screen, sometime around 1990. I used to play prince of persia all the time after school.

The first computer I owned was 33mhz.

Yup I also had the Commodore64. I would only play LodeRunner on it.

The next one was 10 yrs later. A 486dx.....its still in the basement.

Remember when 1200 baud modem was FAST and then the 2400 was expensive and 9600 baud was only a dream.....he types on a dsl connection today.

                            Does anyone else remember BBSs?

Hell man, I remember when 300 baud was the thing!

As for BBS's yes, I ran a Renegade BBS for years. Ya know, I honestly miss BBS's. Since most of the ones ya called were local, you got to meet some cool people.
