That's impressive. I thought a Detroit Deisel 8V-92 was a big engine. I'd love to poke around that thing for a while.

I have an '89 Mustang. Stock 5.0 H.O. (225 hp about 300 ft/lb) but this summer I think I'm going to build a 331 stroker motor for it though. 400 is an easy accomplishment.

By the way... my personal best was 19 mpg's on my last run out to Chicago to AGD tech class. Course I was running empty but this is a Dually with 4:10's in it.

Cool. I probly getting a rebuilt for it by the guy that rebuild our bus trans for a STEAL for 900us and there GOOD rebuilds.

Most of the ones in the buses run PURE city driving an never had one go back cept one for bad electronics withc was fixed no cost. Iv talked to the guy quiet a bit and think thats the rout i gona go.

            its diesel.... :P
You can use nitrous with a diesel.

I have 6.5L(396ci) and its puts out about 380lb/ft, 18mi/gal in the summer.

May dads juiced DMax will do about 500hp 700lb/ft when its needed, 6.6L.

P.S. Itll cook that POS ford.

Especially since it will also smoke the 6.0L PS.

And my ten year old 6.5 would put up a fight, win with some money put into it.

If you thought the 8v92 was impressive, you must be smokin crack. Besides the fact that Detroit also made a 12v92, all th 92 series engines were nothin but oil suckers.

No kidding a moded duromax will spank my old IDI. But a 6.5td aint gona do to mutch as they have slightly less HP and torque both made at Higher RPMS than mine. My truck has basically nothing $$ wise into performance as all i have done is removed thhe mufler and turned up the fuel screw a tad.

The 6.0L is a JUNK engine and if i had to go out and buy a new truck tommorow it be a Dodge Ram Cummins and stick shift as its the best of the bunch at this time if only it was not BUTT UGLY.

Now i dont know bout you but although diesels can do quiet well on the strip i bought mine for TOWING not seeing whos faster. I wanted a cheap RELAIABLE easy to work on diesel with GOOD LOW END torque while still offering some decent power. Well the Ford 7.3 IDI turboifit that bill for me as a powerstroke cost too mutch (to maintain and buy) and the 6.5 are not the most reliable cheap to run options and are a pita to work on. The old Cummins are GREAT but are WAY out of my price range So i got a FORD.

OH and befor i get acused of not knowing what im talking about i am a Diesel mechanic and repair schoolbuses for a living most of witch with these engines 6.5td, 7.3idi, 7.3 powerstroke , 6.0l powerstroke, and a handfull of cummins powered big buses and t444e and DT360 powered IH Big buses.

Once you get used to a 6.5, and address its little quirks, its a cheap and reliable engine, its no powerhouse, but mines pushing 325,000kms where it was worked hard. And you're right, I'm not gonna race the 6.5 unless i'm trying to blow a rod, dont get me wrong, most gas engines will crush these things on the strip, I was just trying to say that mines better. I totally agree with you, the DMax works hard, it pulls our tractors, cars, heavy loads and sometimes the bigger rigs(bulldozer, backhoe). The 6.5 is generally just a driving truck now, pulls a toy hauler and the tractor(87 Belarus 250, if youre interested dj89), and plows. The dmax is a dually so its not as hot plowing.

Also we use a 98 Dodge/Cummins, thats a nice engine, I'd take it over the 6.5L.

I did that on my old 6.2, after 300,000 or so miles it had enough. One night in the pine barrens coming home from a friends. BAM, and I got out and saw the hole in the oil pan...

Then I started it up again, and drove it about 10 miles to a wawa so I could call for a tow.

                              It made an ungodly racket.
