    Sony PSP

So, has anyone broken down and bought one yet? What are they like? Are they as cool as they are said to be?

I have been looking into buying one. As I see it, sure, they are going to be hot now, but they will soon die off. People are not going to buy movies in UMD format just so that they can play them on the PSP. Maybe they should have spent more time trying to fit games on to the mini DVD disks. There for you would be able to copy your DVD onto your computer, then burn them onto a mini DVD. If you want to do things like that, you have to fork out another $200.00 on a nice MemoryStick (1G models). Also, form what I have seen so far, all the games that are out now are just scaled down versions of full PS2 games, nothing too special. I will have to see what happens in the future until I buy one.

They are nice, the graphics are as good as a plasma T.V. ( on the free spiderman movie) the graphics on Need ror speed are alright, nothing special. The handles(copntrols) are ergonomic enough, and the speakers are nice(speaker....analog stick). the disk are like about 2 inches round, (keep in mind I am centimeters person...) I wiould consider buying it again (if I didn't) as soon as the price drops. It stores pictures and music, and comes with an mp3 controll as well. .. I love it

I bought mine whilst in Japan. It was great and probably the best handheld that will be on the market forever. Games looks great, controls are good, and soon there will be WEB BROWSING for them.

                Yes they rule.

I walked into school today and alot of kids were using them. I got a close look of one today in computer class, I must say the graphics were very good. Nice deal, if you like to game, you can do other stuff with it.

for 250? no way, and it isnt even a clamshell casing, the screen would damage up quickly with me. ill stick to the GBA until the PSP is like 120. cant wait till 2008

I have one on reserve, but don't have the money to buy one

I think they are cool, put videos and mp3s on the memory stick duo, and the graphics are insane for such a handheld. I think I might just wait for the price to drop to around 200. And there are already 6 or 7 movies being produced for it.

I just went and picked one up today, I got,
                          PSP
                          Twisted Metal (very cool)
512 Mem card (biggest they had) I wanted a 1G
                          and some screen protectors
Graffix are better then I thought they would be (darn sweet!) sound wise it rocks, for movies it looks better then my TV, I think it was money very well spent.
I am grabbing another mem card tomorrow and filling it up with music, movies are no problem because I can take my DVDs from home and load them on a mem card and take them with me, no need for me to buy UMD movies.
I LOVE the wireless, you can have a LAN party with no wires!
All I need to do now is get off my arse and get some more games.
EDIT: What would make this thing really sing is if firefox made a browser for it.

I checked out my friend's PSP and these things are going to be killer on airplanes. Most DVD players today are just a little too big for crappy coach seats, plus battery life is always an issue. The only issue I'd have is that right now Sony studios movies are the only ones available on the UMD format (correct me if I'm wrong). If this format takes off, they could have a big winner. Oh and there NEEDS to be a writable version.

Well, with Sony's trend of being proprietory with everything, I don't expect the UMD format to take off with any company who isn't producing something for the PSP. Sony can make such a killing if they would just get off of their high horse and open up their products to receive standard media formats!
It's a love/hate relationship with me and Sony...

So you can download movies to a Memory Stick and watch them on the PSP??
                              If so, then that rules!
