America in Minor - My band, and a teaser demo.

So as many of you know I'm playing in America in Minor, basically a collaberation of long time friends. Early last summer was when we started getting more serious, and things snowballed from there.

We are currently working our faces off on the demo, and have pretty much completed it. I clipped a few little segments out of it to post here until I can post the whole thing.

It's screamo/hardcore (lame genre titles I know, we love to make fun of them...) so if you don't like that kind of music, please don't be negative, simply for that reason.

We're working hard on the website, so keep your eyes peeled on www.americainminor.com

Here are the few short clips:

    Julika

    Dear Napalm

Ya, not studio, but we have been working hard on making them as good as possible. We nearly have a complete CD ready, and have a pending touring deal for this summer. Gigging weekly/every other week, things are moving forward right now.

    Thanks for any comments

I actually like it a lot. Just remember this though, lots of bands can scream these days. Try to incorporate some more nonscreaming vocals into your songs like you did in the napalm song and you'll probably get further. We have a lot of startup screamo/hardcore/sXe/punk/emo/rock/whatever bands in OC and I go to shows all the time and the bands who have more balanced vocals always stick around longer, or thats what ive noticed. Theres sooooooo many bands who can rock out and scream into the mic for a half hour and at that point its whos the best musicians and thats a tough thing to be the best at.

It has some good potential though and im sure will sound great in a studio.

Reminds me a lot of Hawthorne Heights, and I love them. The perfect ammount of screaming. But those sound really good for not being studio. I like that bass riff near the begginging of the napalm song.

It would be a lot better if it wasn't "screamo". Like Wicked said, do normal vocals. It sounds so much better with vocals you can understand, and then you aren't limiting yourself to the fans of one genre. Understandable vocals also give songs a lot more meaning to the people who listen to them, because they don't have a lyrics sheet when they hear the songs. The music itself is awesome, but I don't like the vocals whatsoever.

Alexisonfire is actually one of the only bands we found to really compare our sound with.

I just picked random segments from each song, there is alot of clean singing, not just screaming, so don't worry if that's not your thing. Dunno why you couldn't download the demos. These clips also didn't have all the clean layering that has yet to be done. I will be sure to post final product when we are completely done (a week maybe), but I just wanted to give you all a taste of what I've been up to.

I'm glad you like the bass, as I am the bass player... There is a bass solo in the beginning of Dear Napalm, but I have to rerecord it...

To those of you who really don't like this type of music (as far as screaming goes), thanks for keeping an open mind with it. It's not everybodies cup of tea.
