So, how do we influence gas prices

I have heard everything from a one day boycot (won't work IMHO) to... well I have not heard a lot of other ideas.

My idea, create a gas price war. Pick one large company (Shell, Mobil, etc) and boycot them. I mean if you were a large company and saw a substantial decrease in demand, would you not lower price? Don't not buy gas, just everyone pick one big company (and look at there corporate structure, subsidiaries, etc) and boycot them until they give, and then force the others to give??

Except you would have to do this in China and India. Their economic growth has tripled in the last 10 years, resulting in the massive increase in machinery needed oil and fuels.

Roughly a billion people now using petroleum products, that never needed them before, is draining the capacity of OPEC and other oil producers to keep up. Increased need means increased production costs...which means more to pay at the pump.

Your SUV has nothing to do with the current gas price.

        Sweet. That's a relief.

Invading the second largest producer of oil in teh world didn't work. Why would you go for Iran?

Take Saudi... most of the 9/11 hijackers were from there anyways

From what I have heard, Alaska can not support our nations petroleum demand for more then a few days.

I shoulda been clearer, I meant that without tearing up all the national parks, using what Alaska is currently pulling out of the earth, that is what I should have said.
