Yall are close but not hitting the target.
It is the futures market that is making Oil cost 50+ bucks a barrel.
Actual cost of oil production has not increased that much, if this was the case then last quarter when all of the oil companies announced there profits they would not of had such a kick azz quarter.
People getting scared about war in other parts of the world and it is making us pay more for gas at the pump.
We are paying more and they are getting the bling.RT

Might as well contribute.
Most people don't know it, but there is a HUGE oil field off the centeral coast of CA. IIRC, Clinton shut down the Refugio refinery, and it was a huge opperation. So, anyway, all the infrastructure is/was here, and the oil, and you don't have as bad of transportation issues that Alaska does.

Hmmm, isnt there oil all over the US? I mean, drive thru the country, you can see all those oil pumps going, so there has to be something out there, maybe we could support ourselves, if only for a little while.Comment

Army's right. The reason we're screwed is the amount of people dependant on petroleum has incerased exponentially, mainly due to the rapid industrialization of India and China.

Well from exonomics in the 9th grade, the US produces a ton of oil, but the problem is we only produce like half of what we need I honestly think we should drill in alaska.
Also correct me if I am wrong but dosent the Us get the majority of our oil from south america, like out of argentina, not the middle east.

Some scientists predict the earth will not be able to sustain life in 100 years. I am beginning to believe it. The human race is dependant on destruction (destruction of fuel for energy, destruction of forests for wood, destruction of animals for food, etc), so it is not a surprize that it will eventually happen. Look at the hole in the ozone that has only happened within the last century, do you honestly think it's a coincidence? DO you honestly think it will not affect our way of life in the future?
It cannot be stopped. And the bad thing is, the US can't find a scapegoat for it. The least developed countries are actually doing the least damage to the economy (except for the foreign owned countries inside them that damage them the worst for the lack of regulations and enforcement). It's our fault, the civilized world, and we are going to be the ones who bring about the destruction of the world.War is peace

And also look back to the major blackouts that occured during the past century, when pollution suddenly decreased, the ozone above had greatly improved on its own

So... let me see if I'm getting what you are saying right. Invading Iraq was fundamentally wrong...Originally posted by SCpoloRicker

We should have invaded India or China. Thats what you meant right?
