I don't understand why people commit suicide

I have have gone through many stages of depression myself. Last semester i reached my peak. I never went to class, slept all day, contiplated life. Then I saw the eyes of my mom and dad and my 3 best friends. My parents would not be able to deal with the stress of burying there son, especailly after what they have been through to get me to this point. Depression attacks me had every year, and its a struggle to fight through it. My 3 best friends would be devastated for life, for I have changed there life for better and they have done the same for me, killing each others addictions and mental problems. I take a step back and put myself in the shoes of them and my parents and realize its not worth the struggle. life always gets better

I have a hard time understanding how suicide can be selfish. I've heard it called that several times, but never understood it.

whom does suicide serve? Ones own self. You would put your own need of release over everyone elses love? That's like someone handing you 10$...for free. They didn't have to give it to you, but they did, then you turn around and tell them they own you another 10$. Suicide is selfish. Suicide thoughs are real, the reasons are nothing to be jokeing about. However the solution to a persons problems lies ONLY with the individual. Only you can choise to do what needs to be done to solve your problems. IF you don't want to improve you never will. I've been there and I'm still in this world. I couldn't take life the way I was living it, so I changed. And every new day seems so new...

The ironic thing is that when you try to suicide and survive the attempt you can be arrested for attempting murder and go to jail.

So boys and girls before hanging yourself drink some cyanide pills.

I hardly think suicide is selfish. If you've ever been to that point, you'd understand that a lot of thought goes into the decision. It honestly feels like people DON'T CARE. When you feel like no one is emotionally attatched to you, your views are so off... you can't grasp that what you're doing will hurt people. You don't feel like you CAN hurt people, because you feel like they'd brush off your death as nothing. I've heard variants on this from EVERY SINGLE suicidal person I've talked to: "things'll be better if I'm gone." Your point of view has been skewed by depression to the point where you can't see clearly.

Personally i think the whole "ooo im so depressed" is a load of crap...i mean did soemone tell you what it feels like to be depressed?
People worry about dumb stuff to much.

Just wait until YOU go thru a life changing event. Depression will get really real for you in a heart beat!

People can do some ****-up things to other people and we are not created to handle that kind of horor in our lifes. People shut down on the inside and they just live in a hell that no one else ever sees until its too late sometimes.

I agree with the guy that said people don't want to die, they just don't want to live anymore.

Also keep in mind that you teen aged folks have a ****-load of stuff going on in your head chemically. That causes things to seem much worst or better than they really are. I know you don't like to hear that-i didn't either when i was that young, but it is a clinical fact.

I am sorry your bud offed himself. Only God knows the reason.

You don't know how true that really is. I am a Dad, and my BIGGEST nightmare is the thought of having to bury one of my two boys. You are a wise person to realize that even in the valley of the shadow, your parents love you-thats a big deal!

Get help with the depression-it is chemical and they can help! Trust me on this, I know what I am typing-get some help, you'll feel so much better and life will be a lot more fun!!!!

Suicide can be funny.

Suicide in some cultures has been something truly honorable specially in war.

To some people they suicide because well they have terminal cancer or some other desease with no cure and they say "**** that i dont want to suffer this desease i prefer to kill myself and not to suffer this desease and see my loved ones suffer because im suffering."

Sincerely if i have Alseimers(SP) desease im willingly to put a bullet in my head since in a few months i wont be myself anymore.

I think you will find those who are terminally ill tend to want to experince every little bit of life that they can.. Yes it is quite common for them to have a situational depression, but it is not very common that they commit suicide. More often then not they strive to stick around as long as possible so they don't miss out on life... QUALITY OF LIFE NOT QUANTITY
