    Windows question

Hey, say we have Windows XP Pro on one computer, and we go to install it on a brand new computer with no current OS, do I need to uninstall it on the first computer before I can put it on the new computer?

You don't really have to, but I guess if you want to adhere to the liscence you're only supposed to have it running one one active machine at a time. In reality, they don't care unless you're a giant company with lots of computers running illegal copies.

No you don't. It says you can either register online or call a 1800 number to register it and get the code. Your first one your probably registered and got the code online. Just wait to you get to the screen wanting the registration code and call the 1800 number and just say you got a new computer to replace your old one and they'll give you the number. Actually, last time I did it, it was automated. I was talking to a computer and I had to give them the serial # off the windows xp cd and then it gave me my registration code.

You should be fine. I'm not entirely familiar with their codes but as mentioned above technically you're not supposed to have it running on more than one computer, however in a home setting this is thoroughly impractical. If you have no current operating system sometimes XP can be a real you know what to install from DOS but it is possible. If install.exe doesn't run it, it should be in a folder called I386 if i remember correctly. That brings me to my favorite quote ever....
