I'm sure some of you have encountered this same problem. I was given a new video game for my PSP for my birthday. I opened it up and played it for about an hour and realized it sucked (Need for Speed). No place will take it back unless its in its original packaging. I don't really want cash back for this game (don't even have a reciept) I just want to exchange for a different PSP game. I've already tried some gift basket shrink wrap but that didn't work. Does anyone know where to get the packaging stuff the video game manufactures uses?
Original Packaging?

what's with the sense of entitlement? try looking at it from their point of view. they're not renting games. they're selling them. why should you get to take it home play it and then return it? and they don't get any money for the time with it that you had. plus you've just lowered the value on the game by opening and playing it. now factor in that you don't have a receipt. they don't even know where you got it from. they're not getting money off of you and they should exchange games with you? a new one for a used one? that sounds pretty ridiculous to me. i hope it sounds dumb to you too.

Normally I would rent or borrow a game before I buy it but if you read my post you would see this game was given to me as a gift. Being the nice and polite person I am I opened up the gift and tried it out rather than telling them to their face I don't like it.
Anyways I bought another PSP game and was very careful unwrapping it and transfered the packaging from the newly bought game to the one I didn't want. I then took the game to Wal-Mart and they let me swap it out. I didn't cheat anyone out of their money.

Starting like next month Wal~Mart isnt (supposed) to be taking anything back without a receipt. I think its a spectacular policy.
95% of the opened products that are returned go into the garbage compactor anyway, regardless of whether theyre actually broken or not. What a waste.Comment

The argument on software and media is that you are not just purchasing the game, you are purchasing the licensing agreement. Hence, returns only for defective merchandise (not because it "sucked") of same title."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr SuessComment

but if you dont agree to the lisancing agreement, you have to take the software back to the store immeadiatly.
and they have to take it back.
i think best buy went through a lawsuit with this.

jest sell it on e-bay
i do it all the time i buy a game play it and hate it then sell it on e-bay saying its new. jest say that i got it as a gift and tried it out and not a fan of it or somthing.
now if you got it at wal mart you should jest say that it dosent work and ask for a different game

if it's opened, there was a chance the software could be copied -- why should they take it back?

Thats an old argument, and where it has valid logic to it the logic that counters it seems stronger, at least to me.Originally posted by rkjunior303if it's opened, there was a chance the software could be copied -- why should they take it back?
If I was going to "steal" software, theres easier ways that may not even expose me to be in violation of the licensing agreement. Online downloading - I never purchased it, as such did I ever agree to the agreement. Or of course renting... again the purchase issue."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr SuessComment

I do believe you will have a tough time taking it back to anystore with out some form of receipt.... most stores policies are original unopened package for money back or opened same game but, all require a receipt. For the purpose of what it is that you are doing....it was a gift your not out anything. suck it up and take it to a second hand store get like 5 bucks for and and be glad it was 5 bucks you didnt have before so its a 500% profit.Comment
