My frames per secound is horrible in World of Warcraft, the highest it has ever been was 7. My friend said all I need to get is a new Video card, is this true? I have a hp pavilion a810n, I do not know what kind of video card it has if it even has one. Also keep in mind I do not know alot when it comes to what goes into computers, any help would be greatly appreciated.
How can I increase my FPS in WOW?

You might need more than a video card. What do you have currently?Originally posted by DiSoRdeRMy frames per secound is horrible in World of Warcraft, the highest it has ever been was 7. need to check to see if you have a AGP slot and then get a 9800pro from newegg for 129. then you need to disable the onboard video and you will be set. onboard video sucks azz. it uses you RAM as video-ram. so in your case, you have a 128mb shared video controller. that means that your computer steals 128mb's from you 512 of system RAM, which in turn makes your system run slower.

as far as rates go, from my day of defeat experience, they only help so much. If you have good performance they will make it better, if your performance sucks, it will make it suck a little less. but I am not that great at tweaking my rates."Great stories! try an ATI 6800 Pro 256 MB card. i only got the 128 but it runs pretty well. Make sure you have an AGP slot though.Comment

Disorder, you have to check your mother board in your case before you order a graphics card. Or if you have your PC manual it will tell you what type of slot you have in your mother board (or in other words if you buy the wrong card, it won't fit)
that card (the 9800) uses an AGP slot. Make sure its compatable with your mother board. When it arrives, and you fit it, you then need to sort out the drivers. If you are not sure.....make another thread :)

Try reducing your view distance, it's kind of pointless to have it really high up because you don't get any advantages to it, just low framerates. Also, what server are you on?

The PDF of the specs say you have an AGP slot. Look for an AGP video card as your first step. Get what you can afford. An ATI 9800 is a good series, or Nvidia 6600 series. I would also suggest a RAM upgrade. 512mb is ok, but 1024mb (1gb) will give you a more well rounded system.
BTW JrnyFan1985 there is no ATI 6800.Comment

Wow alot of replies. Ok, what exactly does the AGP slot look like? And is the only way I can find out if it does or not is taking it apart? Kinda scared I will mess something up.
Also what would you recommend, buying one online or from a computer store? I have $130 to spend, but can get more by doing some chores(I need a job lol). And should I try to get what I can afford or save up some more and get a better one?
And magmanl337 I play on Frost wolf, have a 32 rogue, and an lvl 8 shaman. Both horde
Been thinking about making an alt incase Frostwolf ever goes down, maybe I will make one on yours. What type of server is it?
