i like the older episodes better.

something about the new one was different, just the way that the charachters acted and stuff.... it was just different.

and i remember lois saying something (in the beginning) about kinky.

then i remember an old episode where lois and peter are in bondage clothes
    "the safety word is bananna"

and just the way the comic book part was, i didn't like the animation there, the road was 3d or done on a computer, it just didn't look right.

Me ranting about this is like me ranting about the new mustangs, everyone loves it but me.

I think your making too many judgements on just one episode. The others could be different

People were excommunicated and killed for proposing that an explaination other than divine intervention could be used to explain natural phenomina like Gravity, So i think it is a reasonable joke.

Plus, everyone needs a turn getting made fun of, dont take it serious, have a homebrew and relax.

first off it wasnt religious, it was historical, no theology at all in the post.

Secondly, I apologize, prolly a bit rash, but i hate people that think they know then they.. ah nevermind.

I forgot, i was gunna say originally, that the episode was great except... WHERES QUAGMIRE!

Wait a minute.. did I just see an explanation as to why teh church was not against science because they treated Galileo "well" when the imprisoned him, and excommunicated him, for saying the earth was not the center of the universe? What was that?

Simpsons need to end. I am a die hard fan, and alls I can say is the show gets worse and worse as it progresses. Almost every episdoe past season 13 is junk to me.

Uh huh.So the reason Copernicus waited till he was about to die to release his works wasn't because he feared the inquisition? So they reason they burned or "edited" his works weren't because they didn't like where it was going, questionsing their interpretations and possible proving them wrong?

Also, if you're going to make an argument, use better sources...Catholic.com is not going to say "We tortured the hell out of him, then forged his renouncement of copernican teachings." I'm not saying they did but it is a biased source.

In 1616 Cardinal Bellarmine gave Galileo a document saying that Galileo admits faults of the Copernican theory. Galileo wrote another book discusing Copernican and Ptolemic theory. It was subsequently banned and Galileo was presented with a different version of the document he signed ( he was in possession of the first one ) saying he couldnt discuss or teach the theory. He had never aggreed to or signed that one. However they decided the one he didnt agree to was the legal one so he was subject to imprisonment. I'm not sure if that counts as persecution or not.

What was condemned in 1616 by the Sacred Congregation held in the presence of Pope Paul V, as ``absurd, false in theology, and heretical, because absolutely contrary to Holy Scripture, ``was the proposition that ``the sun is the centre about which the earth revolves''; and what was condemned as ``absurd, false in philosophy, and from a theologic point of view, at least, opposed to the true faith,'' was the proposition that ``the earth is not the centre of the universe and immovable, but has a diurnal motion.''

1664 Alexander VII signed a papal bull saying all Galilen and Copernican teachings were to be condemed as heresy

I'm not saying the church is bad or evil, I'm just saying it hasn't had the best history of supporting science. People using herbal medicines were burned as witches, chemists were burned as sorcerors, and such. Newton was called a heretic as well and now his works govern most of classical physics and applied sciences.

Yeah, those are the ones I'm talking about. They are comedy gold. I went to the site of the folks who made them, fenslerfilm.com, and it looks like they got in a little trouble from hasbro. Do you know if there are any copies floating around?
