sorry sir your screwed-Geico Insurance Customer Service

    im soooo pissed!!

here is my story short form!!
sitting in my car at a gas station...guy hits me while backing up..i was parked
guy takes off!! i chase after to get information(tags) chased the guy to another city
get the police and the guy...police cant arrest the guy cause it happened in another county cant file a report cause it happened on private property!! well hot damn!!
filed an incident report...filed a claim with Geico
gave all the info on the driver etc...

months go by...i do mean months..
called up...he what the hell is goin on with my claim?
"well sir, we tried calling the guy and mailed him some forms but no answer"
i said..no sh**! he prolly dont have insurance and is prolly avoiding you
so what does that have to do with my claim..
you would have to use your collision part of you policy
in other words..i would have to list it as if i was hit while i was driving and i would have to pay the deductable rather than listing it as uninsured motorist which i pay nada!
so i asked "so your pretty much hanging me out to dry and im pretty much screwed?!"
they reply...."YES SIR, UNFORTUNATELY YOU ARE"

    WTF?!?!
    if your with Geico....leave now!!
i also found countless complaints on them on the net...
and why they dont have a complaint link on the web i dunno

i already filed a complaint to the BBB!

Hate to say it, but most insurance companies would probably do the same thing. They pretty much all put their own interest before that of their customers.

Sorry about your situation, I've been there...

There is nothing you can do legally to the insurance company. Everything they are doing is within the law and what every other insurance company would do. What you could do is sue the guy that hit you and ask for him to pay the balance. Because it's under $5000 you can take it to the magistrate where the accident happened and you wouldn't even need a lawyer.

Where I am lost is why the plice can not file a report. I would have pursued that angle a bit more as that does not sound right, and without that police report it's your word against his.

The police logic is terrible. So, if someone runs up to my house and smashes the windows with a baseball bat, they can't do anything because its private property?

Frankly, its ridiculous that the insurance company will not do anything. Why should he have to sue the guy on his own? Isnt that what he is paying his insurance company for?

No, Insurance companies only go after other insurance companies. If the other person does not have insurance then you are screwed. Or atleast that is how it is in PA where insurance is required. If you let your insurance lapse, they take your plate off you.

Insurance companies are one of the biggest scams. You pay all this money into it and get mostly crap back.

To true. I got the shaft in a car accident too. A lady hit a car that hit my car. The one in the middle had insurance, but the lady that caused the wrech did not. I had to go after the lady that was driving w/o insurance. Took her to court, won, got her paychecks garnished, and then she "retired."

Not entirely correct. In NJ, we have mandatory uninsured motorist coverage and you can add more coverage if you wish. 15,000 is standard. Uninsured motorist coverage should cover his claim no problem. I'd be SCREAMING right now if that were me...

                            more details:
yes i do have unisured motorist on my policy
and the thing that bothers me the most is that they "tried" contacting the guy via mail and phone call
funny the guy changed his phone number
and the is the extent of getting info off of the guy
i would expect a rep to go up to the door and had the guy something
                            as for the police report:
it happened in a gas station ..err..private property
so an incedent report was done instead
                            here is the kicker!!
the guy that hit me took off and i had to chase him to another county
i got the police of that county surround the guy
but they couldnt arrest him because the accident happened on the other county
make me want to go rob a bank and go accross city limits and flip the bird to the cops that chases me there...hahaha
now the state law saids that the insurance company has to verify that they dont have insurance for me to file it as uninsured motorist in my policy...but the extent that the guy wont respond to their inquiries, letters...yada yada...they said their hands were tied.
now i have to file my clain under collision...and for the insurance company to get redeem for what the needed to fix my car....they would need to contact the guy....errr...if they cant do it now what make them think that they could do it again?
so GEICO is a bunch of pirates!!
                            beware!

Get a lawyer, and sue to cover the costs. Theres just a loophole in their policy.
