    Evaluate my CSU GE choices!

What up guys, I am picking classes for my first semester in college tomorrow, and well for CSU (Cal State Univ) GE reqs, I have this fat list of GE classes I have to choose from. Well I want you guys to take a look at it real quick and tell me which classes I should reconsider b/c they're dumb / boring / whatever reason you may have. Btw, I am going to major in Fire Technology (Firefighter). Any help would be grately appreciated, I really just want some feedback, on whether I should stay away from the course or not. Thanks!

    A1. Oral Communication:
Comm 1 - Public Speaking (Want to know if it is easy, other choices are Persuasive Speaking or Argumentation And Debate)

    A2. Written Communication:
    Engl 1a

    A3. Critical Thinking:
Engl 1b - English Composition II

    B1. Physical Science:
Chem 30a - Fundamentals of Chemistry (Fire Tech req course)

    B2. Biological Science:
Biosc 16 - Marine Biology (I heard it is alot more easier and interesting then my other options)

    B3. Mathematics:
    Math C - Interm Alg
    Math D - Trigonometry

    C1. Arts
(Undecided, need help choosing an easy class)

    C2. Humanities
Engl 44 - The Bible as Literature (need some feedback for this class)
Human 20 - Introduction to Asian Roots and Culture (need some feedback for this class)

    D. Social Sciences:
Hist 17a - American History OR Hist 17b - American History (what is the difference?)
    Polit 1 - American Government

    D9. Psychology:
Psych 1 - General Psychology (I have a wide variety of electives I can choose from, not sure if psychology is easy and interesting though, need reassurance)

    E. Lifelong Learning:
PE 4d - Fire Agility Training (Fire Tech course)

I do know the AO sig rules, I just want a free sig pic, that's all!

I go to Cal Poly currently and have taken a few GEs so far. GEs are gonna be pretty easy as long as you put some time into studying. They allow you to pick some stuff that might be interesting to you that doesnt involve your major. I wouldnt stress over them too much. Try to find someone who already goes where you are planning on going. Speaking of which, where will you be attending?

Psy and Public speaking are a since. Public speaking is pretty much just some quizes most likely on vocab, and doing some different types of speeches in front of the class. Psy is just all terms and stuff. All pure memorization.

Both are an easy A/B if you put the effort forth.

I'd assume that a and b designate the level of the class, so... a is less advanced than b? Good luck. I have to choose in a few weeks. O.O

I'm gonna be honest. They all sound like a waste of time. The only ones where you might learn something are the math ones. You probably already learned that stuff in high school anyway, and it probably won't help you when your putting out fires. I'd just take the ones that are required for your curriculum. I mean, how is understanding asian roots gonna help you put out a fire?

I'm just curious what the rest of your curriculum is. I'm guessing like structural engineering classes or something? Maybe a thermodynamics/heat transfer class? I'm sure there are a lot of classes about how to approach/put out a fire too. All the classes you listed are jokes.. I wouldn't pay to take any of them.

One of the schools I looked at had a fire department. It seemed pretty cool. http://www.wpi.edu/Academics/Depts/Fire/

haha I don't want to take those classes that's the thing, those are GE classes. My GE selection isn't very interesting, all the classes are on the lines of stuff like that. I have to take 3 - 9 units from each "Area".
