    Wow. (Camaro vs. Sport Bike)

My friend and I were comming home from work last night in his Camaro SS (LT1 with lots of engine work). We pull up to a light and this guy on a bike wants to race. All I can say is wow. The bike beat us off the start, cause my friends tires are bald, but as soon as we got our traction we jumped right up next to him and the guy on the bike looked at us and couldn't believe we kept up. It was intense, we got up to 120 in a really short distance.

yay for fast cars and my love for adrenaline.

EDIT: In case anyone was wondering, my friends Camaro is pushing 400hp.

Must not have been a great sports bike then. Bike should beat a car just about every time.

Some people get crappy "sports bikes" though and think they are the fastest thing on two wheels.

Aye, a 20k sports bike will kill a 300k import.

400 rwhp just doesn't seem like enough to keep up with a quality liter bike so I doubt it was a nice sport bike. But still nice kill.

It is kinda funny. My grandfather bought an inifiniti q45 in 1994, and it was alright fast. And a good "old man car".. And now, he bought the 2004 . On 2 occasions he has revved the engine against a "sportsy" car, and beaten them in the race. How embaressing for the other people... A 60 year old and his 14 year old kid with a stock car, vs two 20 year olds and their suped up cars..

Yeah, cars and speed are alot of fun. Until someone pokes their eye out

actually, i think i recall hearing on this forum that the R6 is a great bike. well maybe not for racing, but overall if youre looking for a bike its a good choice.

not that i know anything about bikes, thats just what i recall hearing.

The slowest bike I own (only mildly worked) runs 9's at the track all day long and guess what...since traction is NOT the limiting factor, it will run 9's on the street just as easily.

It would take an 8 second car on a drag strip to have any chance at all against me on the street. That's true of most current full bore sportbikes with a pretty decent rider. From a roll, which most car guys seem to think gives them an advantage, it's even less of a race.

So..... like most "I beat a _____ last night with my super duper _____" it really says very little about either vehicle. No disrespect intended I promise you.

Oh, and I'm a 'Car Guy' too. At least my '66 396 Chevelle thinks so.

chances are that bike let off after he got ahead of you. Depending on the bike, most run about 12s 1/4 mile, while your car probably runs about a 13s 1/4 mile.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

I think is a yamaha. The guy keeps driving past quiznos (where we work) to see if his car is in the employee parking spots.

Wouldn't bald tires give you more traction launching?
What kind of bike was it? It's possible that his camaro is faster but if it was any half decent bike the guy let off.
