357 Carry revolvers or "Detective" Hi power

I had looked into upgrading my Millenium series .45 into something else for concealed carry, but nothing in the .45 family really appealed to me. I handled some Kimbers, some Sigs, and a couple HKs. Frankly the Taurus Millenium has them all in overall size.

Now I'm thinking either a Browning "Hi-power" style with a cut down barrel - the "Detective" model by FN for instance. There SA only, but I don't carry with a round in the chamber and would have to rack the slide anyways.

My other thought is a .357 snubbie. Granted I'd be stuck with five shots, but thats five shots of very potent ammunition. That and the Taurus model can be had for under $300.

I'm looking for something small, easy to conceal, and potent - at least 9MM potent. Thoughts, ideas I might have missed?

Colt's 38 Detective Special sounds up your alley. Six shots in a revolver, not five by the way.

5 in the 357 variants offered by S&W and Taurus

          Sig P239
          Caliber: 357 Sig
          Length: 6.6"
          Height: 5.1"
          Width: 1.2"
          Weight: 25.2 OZ

          Taurus 145B
          Caliber: .45
          Length: 6"
          Height: 5.125"
          Width: 1.25"
          Weigth: 23OZ

Now, hands down the Sig is going to be the better performer, both are going to be at least acceptable in reliability (though again the Sig gets the nod). The Sigs a great choice, but I'm trying to down the size of my carry gun, while keeping a reliable load (and not the .32NAA load in there semi - just too obscure). The .45 is great in the winter, but it sucks in the summer.

Taurus Model 85, it's a .38 but rated for +P, pretty light but not so much you forget it's there, it is only 5 shots but it's identical to a chiefs special (to a point) at half the price

also my personal carry gun, paid 275 brand new.

Trust me you don't want a .357 in snub nose, it's a little to energetic for the size.

            I'll post pics later.

I've shot a couple of the Ruger versions with some pretty hot loads in them, and while you certainly would not practice on the range with them you can use .38s for practice and load .357 for the rest of the time. The more I think abotu the Taurus 605-2SS (that I can buy new for under $300) the more I am liking this little thing.

The rugers (god bless them) have a beefier frame than the taurus and smith j frames, I would say yeah, .357 for that would be good.
