    Noobish computer question

so i'm trying to install a rainbow six game to play before my finals start.

however, after it is all done installing, i'll click on the proper link that i may play the game.

it does nothing. if i pop the game out and put it back in, the menu comes up, but the only option i have is to install the game, which i already have done.

you may be right on the permission to install.

i know our computer meets the requirements because i've played it on it before. it got uninstalled when we had some upgrades done to our computer.

i'll check with the 'rents and see if they can't install it.

      thanks!

One of these upgrades could of possibly been a new operating system.Alot of games that run a dos background will not run with Home XP and XP Pro.

        Just my 2 cents

k, so i got the game installed.

but, of course, i encounter another problem.

the game will act like it will work fine. however, after the opening video, it goes straight back to my desktop. the game music begins to play, but i see nothing.

it's almost as if i have minimized it; only i have not

If you're running XP, and trying to play the original Rainbow6 (why? there are many newer, better tactical swat type games out) which I recall playing years ago, so if you find the games exe file (could be in c:/program files/rainbox6 or something), rightclick it -> properties -> compatibility -> run this in compatibility mode, then select windows 95 or windows 98/ME from the dropdown list and try running it with that mode.

If you want an updated rainbow6 game, i'd recommend Raven Shield, it's neato!

yea, i know it's old, but i didn't buy new computer games because i had the ps2. i got rid of the ps2 and was just looking for something to play for a few minutes.

                  oh, that didn't work either

                  thanks for the help though!
