AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
and for the record, it was a glroiously ignorant confederate....
Well I guess all is right in the world.
It's just that on this forum, and in discussions with average Joe American, my experience is tainted with a large helping of US ignorance and centrism.
I'm alos usually disgusted by fellow Canucks who don't know enough of their own history to leap to their country's defense or who are too dumb to be proud of Canada's accomplishments.
no, i know that in all honestly, ya'll gave as much as you could--the same we did-- to win the war and defeat nazism, imperialism, and fascism. we might have been able to do a little more...but we have a few more people in our country.
And without wanting to sound negative, until the US does 10-12X as well as us in anything, you have nothing to put us down for.
With 10X our population, EQUAL, doesn't mean identical.
I just wish that many people could come to an understanding that they seem to miss. You can boost yourself without demeaning others. Let your accomplishments stand for themselves and be judged on their own merits.

that was not ment in a negative light...
only respectful of the fact that, while we both went through hell, we had more to give and as such gave more. I dare say the brits and the french gave even more than we did. They lost their countries.
Speaking of allied troops, anyone here read Armageddon about the last stages of the war? Fantastic book, but one of the points the author tries to make is that, whereas the quality of the American infantryman was going up by the end of the war, the quality of the average British soldier had gone down cinsiderably, to the point where they were actually inferior to the American soldiers. Rather interesting explanation given in the book for this, but essentially it boils down to the British just being worn out and sick of fighting.
The book also goes to great lengths to show just how much superior the elite formations, such as the 82nd and 101st, were to normal units. I didn't realize it, but the those units excelled even when used as elite infantry, as opposed to being used in their intended roles, and performed at a level far ahead of conventional infantry units.
Another point the book made was that even though the Soviets took Berlin, it was hardly a cakewalk. The Germans, especially because of the Panzerfausts, took a very heavy toll on the Soviet forces.
OOOOOH the best part of the war is totally when hitler was trying to get mexico to attack us, and mexico was ACTUALLY CONSIDERING IT UNTILL WE INTERCEPTED ONE OF THE LETTERS! Aggh lol good stuff.

Don't forget the internment of American citizens here in California, their homes and businesses being sold off for a song, and their lives torn apart. That was classic.

I already pointed out his error. And it was Taranto, unless Italy had a fleet moored in Canada that I don't know about
