    A civil war is: A war between factions or regions of the same country.
    The colonies were not a part of England at the time of the Revolutionary War--they were governed by the Brits, but they were not England. Therefore, it was NOT a civil war.

    Also, did you know that the South had tried to enlist the help of the British to win the war against the North? Of course, the Brits ultimately refused--smart fellas...

      Lee surrendered to Grant under a tree at the courthouse at Appomattox--not in some guy's living room. The tree was ultimately torn apart by collectors trying to own a piece of history.
