Windows Update virused me!!!

I just lost every single file in my computer. I got an auto update and it had a virus attached, or was just an imposter from the getgo. It caused my computer to delete a good deal of files and then continuously loop through the restart process.

There went 3 years of combined music, pictures personal files......I am so bummed. I guess its good study in why to backup your important info.

push one button and all my files are backed up. worth every penny

To be able to use system restore you actually have to be able to boot up.

Man my computer just got an auto update, and restarted. scaning...........

I have this program, called like Restore 2000 or something.

I deleted my PARTITION on the harddrive, didn't even re-format... and I was able to save like 99% of the info.

I should do that again because I forgot to backup what I recovered -_-

Don't blame your inability to ensure you're getting the correct thing or whether you need an update or not on Microsoft.

That sounds like a conflict 'twixt your computer and one of the updates.

wtf.... Microsoft gets so much bad rep because something like 90% of the computer community uses windows so there are hundreds of thousands of cases that are negative against microsoft. Whereas linux is somewhere around 5% they only have a few thousand cases against them.

Also they are a business, they are supposed to make money.....

I actually had problems with windows updates too, now I've disabled them and haven't had any problems since.

It totally sucks to lose a whole bunch of work though. I had to scrounge around from my friends to see what photos and writing of mine they had :-/
