Well.. I started looking at Lawn Tractors today.. I started out by looking at $800 Sears mowers... then I figured I wanted 42" (and only 42") mowing deck for where I live. Well, then I figured out I wanted the "automatic/hydrostatic/etc" transmission option. A little while later electric PTO came to mind, and the ability to mow in reverse (why I have no clue). I ended up buying Cub Cadets "entry" level mower - LT1042. 19HP Kohler engine (I'm told 14 woudl have been plenty for a 42" deck), front and rear anti-scalp wheels, electric PTO, see-thru gas tank, hydrostatic clutch, mow in reverse, A CUP HOLDER... and the 5yr warranty (what sold me on the Cub)... :) Wohoo
Bought a new lawn tractor

LOL nope
What I liked about the Cub is there "all models come with..." The only thing that Cub does in the 2000 and up series that I would have liked is a driveshaft between engine and trans rather than a belt. But I started the day looking at $800 tractors, and caught myself looking at $4000 tractors with huge decks (ok, some where much higher). Finally I stopped, decided to live without the driveshaft - couldn't justify going to a bigger deck, and settled on the Cub. I looked at Deeres but wasn't overly impressed - to get the "good" features of a deer you have to go into the more expensive ones. Kubotas and Simplicities were just stupidly expensive. It came down to between the Cub, a Husqvarna, and a Huskee... I settled on the Cub for the name and warranty."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Didn't want a Kawasaki engine - engine was a deciding factor and my choices where Kohler, Briggs, or Kawasaki... I immediatly discounted the Kawasaki and decided the Kohler was better than the Briggs.Originally posted by dj89What you pay? you get the cheap 1500 modle, would have been better of with a john Deere lt133. :)
I'm not going to get into exact price, but it will set back my planned purchase of my .32NAA Guardian pistol back until after IAO.Last edited by Lohman446; 05-19-2005, 07:41 PM."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr SuessComment

I looked at a Deere at the HD... that wasn't a "real" JD. Thats what annoyed me about it - Deere had some inexpensive lines, but they were not comparable in anything but color to the "real" Deeres.Originally posted by dj89Whats was it? Its a farmer thing.. farmers tend to be extremely loyal to one brand. Around here its mostly deeres - though there are some farms that are all Massey Ferguson, International, or New Holland.
