i am in texas...
i was reffing soccer all day on satuday and i drank 2 gallons of water in 5 hours.

Been there ... Summer hours Yuma Arizona. Friend was a wing walker with a sister Marine air wing squadron and would tell me horror stories about people not obeying summer hours and the burns suffered from air craft bodies and how unbad the tarmac was.

When I was in HS I worked for public works one summer, and part of the job involved laying down asphalt patches.
95* days with high humidity, plus 400* asphalt leads to ambient temps in the 120* range near the asphalt while you are spreading it. One guy slipped into the asphalt without gloves on once and got some nice burns from it. That taught me to always keep my gloves on even if you are just raking the stuff around.
I don't wanna know what 142* feels like

I'm welding today, and it should pop over a hundred.
900 degree flux core + 100-plus degree steel + leather gloves/apron/black welding helmet = SUCKS

Yeah that is what we feel like every summer at Luke AFB Az... nothing says work loves you like when you step off the concrete onto an asphalt patch and sink in. Then MOCC comes over the radio and declares that its slightly over 88.5 degrees on the wet bulb globe thermometer... and we should take periodic water breaks.Originally posted by Army
Oh how I hate that damn wet bulb globe thermometer, its easily 30 to 50 degrees lower than ambient heat and totally innaccurate for the painfull heat we have on the hottest airpatch in the free world. We brought a theromostat to work and placed it in the shade a few years back and watched the damn thing melt /scary +1
