So I figured I'd start a thread on the tv show 'Lost'. It's one of the most popular shows this year, I know I have enjoyed it. I think it is in the same vain if you will as the X-Files. So what does everyone else think after last nights season finale? Anyone have any theories as to what the deal is with these 'others'. Are they a cult? A secret corprate or governmental group? Will those who set out on the raft make it to safety? Where does the hatch lead other than into darkness? Any other thoughts?

he island has some sort of supernatural power to it- being government enduced or aliens.. I dont know.
The Others are all people whom have crashed on the island in the past. In their group, everybody died, except for one, and that one last person joins the others.
Basicly we're talking about zombies, but instead of a virus causing it, its caused by going psycho. And I think the mist is the direct cause. Its either the alien, or the government project that went wrong, and that bunker they found is a monitoring station so the government/aliens can watch whatever the island was designed to do in peace.
I was calling things left adn right yesterday. Like when they were carrying the dynamite out, I was saying to my mum " When TNT decays over time, the nitro can leak out and it becomes unstable... I think is gonna blow". Then as he is wrapping up the TNT(the teacher guy), I was all like "Boom." And I had that face thats like
. Then he blew up. I think my mom hit the ceilign when she jumped.
Lost.. Great bonding time.

I think it was stupid of the raft group to use the flare when they were only about 15 miles offshore, if the target was a ship in the shipping lanes, the island would be know to the world due to its proximity to the shipping lanes.
Personally I think the others is the rest of the french womens group, and Im geussing the island is formally a scientific test site of some sort. The french did at one point test nuclear weapons in the pacific, possible location of base for underwater detonations?

I've been addicted to this show. I've recorded each episode.
The "security" system still baffles me. Is it just a puff of smoke? ???
The "others" are pirates. (Hense the Black Rock) *I doubt this but wth*
I love how everyone is tied into the another. The black kid has some kind of gift and I think the hatch should not have been opened. Not only because of the numbers but the kid told Lock not to open that "thing". And we all remember how he thought up that polar bear (after reading Curly's spanish comic).
Definately a good show... although I was a bit disappointed in where it left you hanging and Lock saying that he thinks "hope is in the hatch".Sorry, I'm oldComment

Might find this interesting.
You see, I don't think the boy-Walt, had anything to do with the polar bear. We've seen the bear twice right? The first time was during the initial trek into the woods, and he was nowhere near, the other time the bear attacked him. I don't think the Others have anything to do with the Black Rock because the ship appeared to be an old 3 masted sailing slave ship, and these guys later had a motor boat. One theory that was posted on the link above and that I have thought of myself is that the hatch is a WW2 Japanese bunker, but the numbers on the side seem to contradict that. The 'security system' up to this point has seemed to be a natural phenomanon, but after the black smoke it would seem to be something 'other worldly', then after it dragged Locke, I would have to say its mechanical, 'cause is it just me or did it sound like an old roller coaster.
Maybe the island was Disneys first park then wicked witch took over
