except teh original poster is in CA (if I understand correctly); not europe, not Canada. Just because it might be okay for minors to drink wine in some countries, for example, does not make it right in the US.

and SlartyBartFast - he obviously doesn't know her well enough and vice versa if he wants to continue to argue about something that (though may be culturally okay in some places, isn't necessarily in the US) he knows bothers his girlfriend. why would he come here, instead of talking with this girl and communicating his feelings and coming up with an agreement that is win/win for them both. it is my opinion that if he knows it bothers his girlfriend, then that is a simple matter of discontinuing that activity.

I wasn't taking this from a religous point ov view at all, so won't comment on your incorrect assumptions.

and being hen-pecked is a matter of context and content. you might refer to something as being hen-pecked, while I might call it being sensitive to my girlfriends/wifes feelings. is there a line there? yes, but stopping an activity like kissing other girls, is not crossing that line, in my opinion. and in fact, continuing in spite of the girlfriends feelings is downright disrespectfull.

Him having to change himself socially is NOT win/win.

And, my point is all about how much of an argument it is. That's why I suggested they both go see the coucillor together.

If it's a full blown shouting match with ultimatums there's no telling when the relationship will go bellyup due to another innocent action.

And last time I checked Iowa isn't California. A very limited number of things are culturally acceptable across an entire nation. Every region, and every social group has their own limits and tolerances. So Ican't comment on what is acceptable or not there. Judging by responses from other AOers the idea of cheek kissing isn't that foreign to others in the US.

Sometimes, but shes cool most of the time and supports me with my going off to college to play football in a couple months, and understands that I have to leave. Most girls dont like that, dating a guy but knowing it will be over in 2 months. And not only is she cool about it, shes really excited for me. Its just the little stuff we argue about but she really is a cool chick. Like today she just sent me this picture of her wearing a sweatshirt she bought to wear on Saturdays when I play.
