I got a similiar ticket... 98 in a 65 just a couple months ago... went to court for it and they dropped it down from a 6 point, possible $10-$300 fine, possible 0-90 days jail ticket down to a 2 point "defective vehicle" ticket and the fines including court costs totaled $129.50.

Well I hope I get off as easy as some of you, I was the only car on the road so its not like I was weaving in and out of traffic. Plus this is my first offense and people have told me the judge has taken it easy on them with their first offense.

I'm not really sure about the ticket, there is no speed written down, the cop never could clock me all he could say was he went 95mph and was trying to catch up (Explorer cop car, not crown vic). Hopefully this lack of hard evidence of my speed will go in my favor, I'm not really sure how things work if they don't have a radar log. He did say I HAVE to appear in court though.

I had something like that happen, going 80 in at 2am the cop was on a side street and never clocked me but pulled me over at a stop ligh he gave me hell a bsed with me a munch to make sure i wasn't drinking i think he peak in the windows for any bottles or cans and since i wasn't drinkin he was cool said "get the hell home ans slow down son i'm after DUIs tonight so your lucky this time"
          most cops arn't that cool
get a legl help and decent legal help and good luckby the way if you think help is gonna cost more then the fine it could but its not just the fine its insuranse and stuiff after too best of luck to you

Don't waste your money on a lawyer, you have almost zero chance of getting it thrown out. Just go there and more than likely they will plea it down to somthing small. If they don't well enjoy your time in federal rape you in the behind prison.

That's why I responded the way I did in the detector thread.

Follow the rules. Only the profesionals really know how to judge maximum safe speed. Or, in this case, if there are even others on the road.

Don't ask for sympathy from the court. Talk to a lawyer, there may be a way to plead down the fine.

Same as everyone else isn't a defense. Like fishing, can't catch them all, the stupid ones get caught first.

Unfortunatly you can. Some fish are getting really hard to catch around here.

                    HUH? Did you mean can't?

I'm a HUGE supporter of raising most/all limits (here go from 100 to 120 kph for example) then enforcing them draconinaly with speed cameras.

Without ANY changes, I think cameras should be installed adjacent to every on-ramp and anywhere else that multiple car accidents happen with any kind of regularity

the problem with raising the speedlimit is people got 10-15 over the speedlimit now so if you raise it they will continue to go 10-15 over the new limit. enforcement would need to double

The judge will side with the cop and be sure to give you a nice big fine for being an idiot.

my first ticket was 30+ and it was only 250 and i took a class to remove the points.

got another ticket about a week ago, was going 55 in a 45, and it turned into a construction zone really fast, and i got busted going 55 in a 35 as soon as i passed the sign. 200 for this one, and i cant take the class again, so its 4 points.

there was some car in front of me... it took off in a 55 mph. it was going about 110+ and i thought it was just another person... i started catching up to it and it turned out to be a cop.
he wrote me a ticket for 70 mph so i wouldnt lose my liscence... he was cool

Since everyone flamed theraidenproject for talking about speeding i'll put in my input also . If you're willing to break the law, be ready to deal with any consequences for your actions.
