    Tractors again....

A few of your favoritest subjects.

Recently my beloved Snapper LT16 was gong through the death throws. Motor and frame still solid after 23 years but the electric clutch and previously the battery recharging stuff went out. So its time to think about retiring the old red thing. Been a good one. Long time relationship and a lot of seat time on that mower. I might try and convert her to just a yard cart puller or something. See if I can get a few more years out of her not mowing but towing the yard trailer around.

So... I go on my hunt for the perfect mower. And spend hours and hours looking and researching. A mower is a long time investment to me. I like nice beefy stuff. Now... the new thing is the Zero Turn stuff. So I concentrate my efforts on those and of course am disappointed in the ones made for the Residential market. Everyone with big lawns is going with the Commerical stuff. But thats like over 5 grand and goes way up from there. So with little to spend and all I finaly find the perfect Residential one. Price and Beefy Commercial like build on it. It was not the Snapper. The Snapper one is adequate just not really up to the same build as the Commercial ones. Finaly I find the right one....

This is their smallest one. I only mow about a half acre. Got a good price on it too. 3 grand. Lists for $3500. This thing is built like a brick chit house. Learning to use it now. Its tricky. But its fun. And it has a place for my beer...

This company you might not have heard of. They made the very first Zero Turn mower in 1964. But they mostly sold to the Commercial Highway dept government market. And just recently got back into doing Landscaper Commercial and now Residential size machines. Someone forgot to tell them to build them cheaper made for that. They just downsize the overall size is all. And put a great warranty on them. Three years parts and labor and lifetime on the deck and frame. And then sold them for a bit less than Snapper or Cub Cadet. Amazing peice of equipment. Take a look at Hustler if your in the market. And if your near around me... let me know. I know a guy... cheap... good dealer.

3 grand for a mower is a lot.. but if you can get 23 years out of this one too, its definately a good investment. sweet

Yea it is.... Hate it too.... But a new Snapper rear motor unit in the same deck size and HP is $2500...and will last 20 years.... Their ZTR is $4000 and not as well built as this one... a cheaply built Sears/Lowes/MTD/JD100 series type rider tractor of around this is$1800 and will last about 8-10 years at best....

this one will outlast even the old Snapper... probably the last mower I ever buy. You look at what it is? Its a tank!

          Got $11,000?
The Walker zero-turn commercial lawn mower is the most productive, compact mower producing natural lawn stripes and a beautiful cut.

Why not just buy one of these and REALLY cut some grass/hay! With the 16 foot swath it wouldn't take but a few minutes to cut your 1/2 acre

This is the exact same model of machine as we have and I get to run her all summer long...

Walker does indeed make a dam good big machine. So does Hustler in its big units. As well as eXmark and Grasshopper. But seems overkill for my 1/2 Acre of lawn...

Seriously though if you go looking for a small residential unit... Hustler is the only ones got a decently built one for the money. I can say that I learned that from hours and hours of comparison hands on and research. If you go up a notch and have a huge lawn of say several acres there are many good ones out there to chose from. But if your need small the choices are limited or your going to almost always get cheapened construction. With the Hustler your not. Fact.

I got a couple hours seat time in on this thing today. Wowza! Fast and accurate and almost completely eliminates my String trimming time. Not to mention the endless wasted turns to get back on line. Stops on a dime, pivots where you want it and takes off. Mows like FAST. Good neat cut too. Actualy is fun to mow. Probably cut my mowing time down to about 60% of what it used to be and cut my string trimming at least in half. I regret not doing this sooner.
