    Good road bike

Ok so the other day my freind and I decided to go to Denny's. Well neither of us have a car at the moment, so we had to bike. 20 miles away.
We made it 10 before giving up, but still I was amazed that I actually enjoyed the trip.
So now I plan on biking everday as part of my summer excersize, the only time I do any all year long.

I have a mountain bike, but yea that'll suck for long trips on the road.
I'm good with mountain bikes but know nothing about road bikes.
So AO come help me out!

Probably will be looking at a mid level area..

    get a moped w/ pedals.

then put a 100cc engine on it.

then pretend ur pedaling it on the freeway (after making it freeway legal of course).

    muahaha the things i do....

If you are looking for something made in the USA, look into Raleigh and Cannondale... Trek is also an excellent choice, but a bit overpriced (due to the success of the US Postal Service Cycling team)...

I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend, but keep in mind that whatever a mid-range mountain bike will cost, a comparable road bike will cost you nearly twice as much...

As for mid-range, stick with an aluminum frame... Carbon fiber frames are pretty pricey...

Yea, I'm not worrying about the frames. I'm biking for a workout - not a race. I don't need a lighter bike, less weight just means less of a workout..

you might want to look into some road wheels for your current bike to turn it into a hybrid with some clipless pedals. That would be much cheaper than a whole new bike. But if you're really going to get into it, just head to a bike store so they can set you up with the correct ergonomics. A poorly fit road bike can really mess up your knees/body.

i have started to ride road bikes too.

i have my dads old 85 cannondale, still works flawlessley...

and of the ones i tried get a treck with a carbon frame or a cannondale.

The cheapest Trek carbon fiber frame will cost at least $2,200...

you cant fit anything larger than a 100cc between the pedals on most I had to get some custom machining done just to fit the carburetor on.

besides, 100cc is plenty lol u dont wann akill urself

I have a mountain bike nothing special, and last summer I went for 30 k bike rides everyday (I have one of those speedometers/ odemeters) and I started it again about a month ago (still had snow, that was a ) trust me, once your legs get in shape it doesn't matter what kinda bike you have.

Nice find Cue! My lil sister has one similar to that.

Will, you might be able to get away with using your exhisting mountain bike just by simply changing the tires. Find yourself a tires with a nice high center and low rolling resistance. I was looking into this a week ago, but seeing as my bike is only a couple months old, I will wear these out some before i get new ones. Hit the local bike shop and ask someone there, they can show you exactly what you need. Hope this helps.
