XBOX and PS2 owners...

i am interested in a ps2 or perhaps an xbox, i have not played either
i have a ps1 and i like it, but im gonna have some extra money since im getting out of paintbaoo for a while, so i thought i would give one a try, kinda leaning toward an xbox
just wanted eveyones takes on them since the xbox has been out for a little bit

please let me know what u think of it

I own both and I think Xbox is better. Some people might not think so because there aren't as many games for xbox as there are for ps2, but give it time.

xbox can handle way better games then ps2.

I was saying that eventually xbox will have better quality (graphics and concept) games.

PS2 had the same problem when it was released. It didn't have any good games, but look at it now.

It's common with new systems.


It would just make more sense to get the system which is better, even if the games aren't there yet.

Game Cube

I own a PS2 I only have 4 games though. Metal Gear, Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo 3, and Max Payne.

My brother has the X-Box. He has like 9 games. I really like the x-box. I am hooked on Halo.

I don't know are you really into auto racing? If you are get the PS2. There is no game that compares to GT3.

PS2 also has the RPG market locked with the FF series.

If you are into good looking shooters get the x-box.

Plus the x-box has some hot sports games.

I wouldn't mind the x-box. Maybe in a year or two.

I like xbox but I feel that microsoft is pushing it too hard. PS2 fits the generation right now. The xbox should have probably been the generation of system after ps2 or when ps2 upgrades to ps2.5 with hard drive and broadband...

Oh, I can get xbox games for 10 dollars new and real... Gamecube or ps2 isnt' really worth it anymore... Well, I can burn ps2 games but not gc... Xbox and ps2 are the only 2 systems i would buy because i'd save a poopload of money in the end.

I personally love PS2. XBox is good, but not quite my style. I think both are physically capable of the same graphics and jazz like that, but it's up to the makers of the games for PS2 to equal the graphics. Don't believe me? Just look at Gran Turismo 3. You can't tell me there is any XBox game with better graphics than that. I'd say your choice should be determined by the games you play. If you play sports, either is a good choice. RPG- PS2, Racing- PS2, Multiplayer fun- no doubt XBox rules on multiplayer games, fighting- PS2, 1st person shooting- PS2, I think XBox is gaining.
I own a PS2, and am just as happy with it. I only have 2 games: Devil May Cry, and Tony Hawk 3, a must have. I desperately need to own a copy of Grand Theft Auto 3. Gran Turismo 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2 along with GTA3 and TH3 are all must-haves. If you even remotely enjoyed Tony Hawk 2, tony hawk 3 humiliates 2.
They both have their ups and downs. PS2 has memory cards, which I have nothing against because you'd have to buy one for XBox anyway to take saved games elsewhere, but you can Upload songs onto the XBox hard drive and listen to them instead of a games soundtrack. I personally think the PS2 controllers are better designed for performance than the XBox's which tries to look cool, I can sorta get used to it's controller though. You have to buy a DVD attachment for Xbox for around 30 bux. No matter what you choose, you absolutely must play Tony Hawk 3 and Grand Theft Auto 3, both available on PS2 now.

I've had an Xbox for about a week now. Other than the fact that I had to shell out for a DVD remote kit and for the component video kit, I think it rocks.

The game selection sucks so far, but there are still more games available at this early stage of it's life than there were for the PS2 during the same time frame.

Right now, I have 2 games, NFL Fever 2002 and Halo. They are both sweet as (insert appropriate word here). Fever isn't quite as much of a sim as Madden is, but it's a heck of a lot more fun. It's much easier to play a friend and have a good time with Fever than it is with Madden. Halo is amazing... pure and simple. Once you get used to the controls (much the same way you had to with the original Turok for the N64) it runs great, and is the prettiest thing I've ever played. Not to mention the game itself is just pure coolness....

Not to knock the PS2, however. It's a great system and there are plenty of good games. I just prefer my Xbox. I'd take either one over a Gamecube any day, just for the fact that they're also DVD players. (Although the Xbox DVD player, even if you have to pay extra for the remote, is better quality than the PS2). Plus, I'm sick to death of Nintendo's focus on 'cute' games for kids. Either one won't disappoint.

Well, I havent really played PS2, but I have seen it at its work(at my house, on my *HUGE* television) and the grafics dont differ that much from XBox(My friend owns it)
Well, 1 thing, I like the playstation controllers much better (I have a ps1 dual shock analog controller) than XBox ones. One time my friend and I pulled an All nighter and he made me play this NHL game the WHOLE time. My thumb was VERY sore at the end and it was very unconfortable.
My oppionion:
Go wit the ps2.
Edit: THPS2x is the best game for Xbox if you get it.

I own a PS2, the kid across the hall has an X-Box, and the kid next to him has a gamecube. Gamecube sucks, it's smart that you aren't even considering that. Good choice. When I think of a system, I think of it's games. I make the mistake when refering to the x-box all the time of calling it the 'halo'. I think that one game is a good enough reason to get it. Then when I think of the PS2, there are so many good games. Not to mention that you already own a PS1 (do you have analog controllers already?), so you can play all your old games in it and sell the ps1 for 20 bucks. I do like the controller on the X-Box better. I guess if I had to choose one system, it would be the PS2 just cause there are way more good games. I also think that a lot of games will be run on the halo and the ps2. Thats just my opinion though, it's not really based on any fact.
