Ok, so I've been trying to figure this out for like the last half hour, and can't do it...I want to have voice overlays on a video I'm putting together, but I can't record anything onto my computer. I know it's something with the soundcard settings or something, because my mic is brand new. The regular sound recorder won't even work...any help?
Why won't my Mic work??

Why won't my Mic work??

And Sheperds we shall be / For thee, my Lord, for thee / Power hath descended forth from Thy hand / Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands. / So we shall flow a river forth to Thee / And teeming with souls shall it ever be. / In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus SaTags: None -
Since I don't know your computer setup. I'll just fire off a couple of suggestions
First, just have to point out the obvious, make sure it's plugged into the correct port on the computer.
If your computer has more than one sound card, make sure in the Sound Options in the Control Panel has the default Voice Recording device set to the sound card you have your mic plugged in to. [ a lot of computers now have built in audio cards, it may be defaulted to one or the other ]
If you are able to actually speak into the mic but you don't hear anything, make sure the voice output [in the control panel] is going to the card with your speakers attached.
There should also be a hardware test button in the voice settings. That should give a little clue if the mic is working or not.
hmm well there's some starters, sorry if it was something you tried. -
I tried testing the hardware under the voice properties. It doesn't even recognize my voice through the microphone. I have no extra sound card, only the one that came on the mother board. I have an MSI K8N Neo motherboard w/ 5.1 sound built in.
