also that Fuji panic was listed as a "jump bike" on the fuji website? Is it called a jump bike due to its 100mm fork travel? It still would be suitable for the trails with streams, rock beds, and steep inclines correct?

I second the RockHopper. Very nice. However, perhaps you should take a gander at the Kona line if the Fuji does not work out.

thanks again Bolter and no I do not ride pro. There are streams by my place (about 40 yards long, and 2-2 1/2 ft deep and it does get really muddy in the rainy season). The trail varies alot from huge sand pits, steep downhill switchbacks with ruts, steep uphills with ruts, to regular dirt packed ground with huge rocks. Its a very diverse trail that offers alot. I went back to the store AGAIN (been their 4 times in the past 4 days) and after talking to another sales rep over there (very nice i might add) he had shown me another bike that may suit my needs better. It was lighter, a trail bike not a jump bike, 27speed w/deore deurailers and it had disk brakes with better quality parts as compared to the Fuji panic. But im also going to go check out a Trek dealer about 20 minutes away from me and see what they have to offer.

Fuji Bikes has delivered high-performance bicycles since 1899. Explore road, gravel, mountain, hybrid & kids bikes built for every type of rider.

hopefully in a few weeks she'll be in my garage ready to go and will definitely post pics of what i get! thanks again

Just thought I'd post a little update about my current storebrand mountain bike...

It has held up very well through everything i have put it through so far, rocks, roots, ruts, mud serious downhill drops, jumps, fallen trees, etc.... I had installed a computer a week after I got it, and I have just looked at the odometer, and it appears I have logged quit a number of miles(250MI, not KM) in the short time I have had it. For now I am pleased with my low ticket price purchase, although I have agree that there is nothing like the big guns....

Just thought I'd share my personal experience to date.
