A Teenager and his BMW and driving laws

Well I recently got my licence and i turned sixteen in may. I've been driving stick since twelve and automatic before that. I actually learned to drive on roads on a stick though.

When I turned sixteen my mom went out and bought a used 1992 325i bmw black on black. we had been discussing for the last several months about wether i would be driving her cars around or if I would buy my own and such. Well it turns out that the car is sort of for me but she is very very intent on it being hers. I guess after all that talking she realized that if it was mine she would never see it again. thats 6000 down the drain.

So the deal is I drive it when I want and she gets it when she needs more than the two seats the miata can offer. Its still officially in her name though.

I hate the six month passenger restriction and lots of other awful california laws. I do like second gear torque

My question is if there is a way to get aroudn that restriction if you have an out of state licence because you are a resident of another state?

i'm glad that law passed after i got my liscense a few years ago. it is totally stuipd. stupid people will do stupid things reguardless of how many people are in the car. all it's doing is adding more traffic and having more idiotic drivers behind the wheel. instead of jonny picking up all his friends in one car, now jonny gets 1 friend, then sally gets antother, etc. it's just a waste!

Well now those stupid people will do stupid things with only 1 passenger in the car rather then 3.

Definately extra lube. I keep two bottles at all times. Can't leave home w/o your lubricant.

Well aren't you lucky. We have 1 year of restricted driving (Get your liscense at 17). Not so bad. It's only a year, but it doesn't bother me. 6 months of a restricted liscense when your 16, damn you're lucky.

Except that when Jonny goes out screwing around and wraps his car around a telephone pole at 90 miles an hour, he's going to kill his own dumbass self, and not 3 others.

I firmly beleive that most teen related wrecks are from having too many kids in the car goofing off. Hell I was guilty of it when i was 16. Though I never wrecked, there were close calls.

PA has been trying to pass a law that you have to have 6 months of driving with a permit (which I think did pass) before getting your license. With your Jr license you can only have people from your household over 18 in the car with you.

I think those two things would prevent alot of teen related wrecks (and deaths).

Pfft yes that's what I thought when I was reading this thread. Meh I only got 6 months until I get my restricted, I'll survive.
