    Black hawk down

I just got back from a sneak peak of the movie and just wanted to let you guys know what I thought. I really did enjoy this movie, yet on a rare occasion caught myself looking at my watch wondering how much longer. However, I have never before found myself cheering (quietly to myself) as much as I did when the Delta/Rangers kicked some a$$. I didn?t even cheer this much in Saving Private Ryan.

I do highly recommend it to any one, especially if you do enjoy a good American kick a$$ movie. The one funny thing about it is the Big sergeant from Saving Private Ryan was in this one too. Not to mention he was in Pearl Harbor. So I ask this, how can he be in the war in the Pacific (Pearl Harbor), European war (Saving P.R.) and Somalia (Black Hawk Down). How can he be in all those different wars?

Yes, it seems like an interesting movie. Unfortunately they have to "Hollywoodize" the movie and make it a story about how the American soldiers "triumphed" over the Somolians. If you actually know what happened, we basically went over their and got the crap kicked out of us. It was a situation we were never suppose to have been involved in and were not prepared to have been involved in.

I dont mind us winning at all, i think im gonna love it. Plus the real true stories never have good endings, so hollywood makes em into people pleasers....very smart actually.

Oh man! I can't wait to see that movie. I just started reading the book a few days ago. Have you guys ever seen 'Hamburger Hill'? I watched that yesterday, it's a pretty good Vietnam movie.

                Just got done...

I just now got home from the movies with a friend and I came here to check the AGD forums. Now I ocnsider myself a war and weapons expert in many ways and this movie was probably one of the best movies ive seen in long time(next to SPR). Time Sizemore(The SGT) is one of my favorite actors next to Vin Diesel and he did a superb job in the movie. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE should go see this movie. Gets bot thumbs up form Me!

Yay! I'm going to see it this Sunday. I'm hoping it will be as good as SPR, that was one of my favorite movies of all time.

                        I disagree with you beaver

Actually the rangers and delta guys did an excellent job in that battle. They completed the mission and lost only 19 people, while about 1000 Somalis were killed by the soldiers. I read the book, and about 120 special forces people fought against many thousands of mercenaries and civilians, and won. The bad part about the Battle of the Black Sea was that polititians were unwilling to give the men in Somalia the things that would made the fight easier to win, such as Ahbrams tanks and better helicopters.

Oh yeah, I saw the movie too and I really enjoyed it. The acting was pretty good, the special effects were great and the best part was that the movie was two hours of non-stop action. I wasn't as good as Saving Private Ryan but it was close. Black Hawk Down also is slightly gorrier and bloodier than SPR.

I know someone who was in that battle for real, he could barely sit through the entire movie. He said that there were A LOT more bullets being sent the other way by our guys, but he understands that hollywood couldnt show it like that or noone would be able to watch it.

I had a teacher at school that was quite pissed about them making that movie. We lost 16 guys and pulled out and they make a heroic movie about it. . .

It looked like a good movie till I heard that story. . .

                              I liked behind enemie lines!
