I think this what your talking about hope it helps.Too bad for the chip man,I think you made yourself a $$ pop coaster for your desk.

That's what I thought at first too, but wasn't sure if that's what he was describing.

There's no plastic there. This sucks.

Can somebody also explain to me how to get the cd drive in successfully with those brackets that came with the case?

Urm... it's probably one of those sliding brackets. Put the brackets on the drive, slide it into the case - should have rails.

I actually dislike "tool-less" cases very much... some of them take tools to make them tool-less! I guess you can have the brackets that snap on, I suppose... still don't like them.

I actually just put drives in, and often don't screw them down or just use one thumb screw... not necessarily good to do for everybody, but that's just how I prefer it.

Sorry about the cpu man. That really sucks. The reason that the pins bent is because that bar thingy you were talking about has to be lifted up so the pins go in all the way. Then locked back down to get a good connection. Sorry to say, but you should have read the manual And about the graphics card, are you sure you have a good slot to card match? Sorry again about the cpu.

Alright, Can I put the cd drive into the case and screw it in without the stupid brackets? Will it be okay? I also have these and don't know where they go

I have 2 sets of these

the extra one that you can't see says GND

these, I have no idea where they go

            they say:
            EAR L
            EAR L
            EAR R
            EAR R
            MIC VCC
            MIC DATA
            GND

what do I do with all of these?

Those are for USB ports not on your motherboard. Search your manual for Front USB/USB extension/etc. Second set is for mic and speaker jacks not on your motherboard.

wow I think I'm SOL. I called AMD and they said to send it in, they'll do tests on it. Call me and tell me what's the problem, etc. etc.

I had a thought on the video card mounting issue. Did you use the standoffs that came with the case? I have seen different height standoffs for different cases. If you used standoffs that were too short, that could cause the video card (actually any card) problem you described.

I got the video card in, I just bent the small piece of metal, I think it's good. Right now I'm trying to bend the processor pins to fit. I have it to the point where you cant see problems except with a magnifying glass, bleh this is hard. Hopfully I'll get it

thats good that u got the processor in.

When was first building my comp( well my friend was buildin I was assisting) i opened up the processor and it popped out and fell to the floor bending one outside pin, but thank god we were able to straighten it out and get it to work.

The idea that u had to bend a piece on your vid card worreis me though, seems like that shouldnt have to happen.

Well... it's good if you can get it into the socket. But keep in mind that the CPU could have intermittant stability problems now or in the future because the pins were bent.. cross your fingers.

Sounds like he just had to bend the slot cover a bit... that's not a big deal. Once in a while stuff doesn't line up exactly right... even if you installed everything correctly.

Correct, It was off like 1/8 of an inch or so, I just have to be careful with it.
Oh dont worry about crossing the fingers, I have all my fingers and toes crossed
Even then if I get it, I can return it correct? Because now the pins are good and straight now right?

If there is little/no visible physical damage, then you are in good shape. Just ask for an exchange. If they ask why: "This one locks up randomly." If they give you more grief, explain that, "I have a second identical CPU that tested fine on that board." Then they say okay and give you a new chip.
