Need A Program To Change Audio Files.

what i need is an audio program (FREE) that will allow me to take parts of songs or whole songs and change the extensions on the songs.... such as take a .MP3 file and take part of that song and then save it as a .MID file.... IT IS VERY IMPORTANT! that i am able to save stuff as .MID files

i am pretty sure a .MID files is the same as a MIDI file, but i am not to sure... and when i do convert to an .MID file i do not want to get that crappy old school phone ringer sound

    so any suggestion?

I've never done what you want to do ... but a great resource to try out files is www.download.com They're part of CNet and I've used them for years and they have an extensive library of free programs. The user reviews are helpful as well.

ah i got it down pat

turns out my phone can use and accept .mp3 files!

haha screw verizon and there 25 cents per picture messege and screw them for $3 for a ring tone :-D

i downloaded audacity and make my own clips for ringtones or put the whole song on my phone. i already took about 20 pics of my phone and put about 4 new ring tones on there :-D

haha $4 usb cord is saving me a crap ton of money already WOOWOO!
