    I was just wondering...

As the title says, I was wondering if there are any fellow linux users here on AO?

I couldn't get it to install on my laptop, but I'm gonna run Redhat on this hand-me-down Dell I got comin' next week.

Ive been working with Linux since 1997-98 ... however I tend to stay more with OpenBSD for secure machines.

There are a number of us on here ... I used to be more into it, ie user groups and irc channels to assist people, but I work in a Unix environment all day so Ive given up on spending my free time dealing with helping others ... I get a big enough headache dealing with the off shore folks in my work so I dont want to deal with anyone else LOL ....

I use linux at school all the time because they have too many restrictions on the windows system. What i use is called knoppix, a bootable cd you put in and it leaves no trace on your computer. Too bad most games dont run on it otherwise i would run it on my home computers too.

My grandparents use linux for their business, so I have learned a bit of how to program , and well, I like it better than DOS...It's a wonder why I don't have it yet. I like the penguin better than a window too..

I'm taking one of my old machines and turning it into a firewall for my network using a free linux based thing called Smoothwall which sounds interesting ...

i just got back from nerd camp (Worchester Polytechnic Institute frontiers program, I was in mech engineering) and my friend who took comp sci burned me a copy of knoppix. thanks for reminding me to try it out.

he also burned another version of linux for himself and is installing it on his desktop.
