    id say 9 over is the safest, that way you can say officer, my spedometer said 74.... etc etc

    which, in all reality, it is possible to have a 5 mph difference. Tire pressure, calibration of the radar gun etc. 4 over is not ticketable

        LOL.. if I told an officer that he would probably ticket me for the BS - you are responsible for the working order of your vehicle (and speedometer) and there failure is not an excuse for failure to obey the speed limits.

                It works two ways ... the cops are supposed to know when the radar gun was calibrated last etc., but they never know either

                    whenever i go speeding i dress up in my innocent boy scout uniform that i bought off ebay so i dont get a ticket when im goin 112 in a 65.

                        Drug smugglers have tried dressing up as priests to get by cops before. A local catholic priest was harassed when he took a trip to Florida for that reason ... and the excuse for pulling him over was that he was going 66 in a 65 LOL.

                            In the area that I commute through the cops are constantly putting up the remote-radar-guilt traps, the ones without cops, but they still show you how fast you are going

                            I've noticed that my speedometer consistantly reads 3 mph faster than the trap, I'm still trying to figure out how to use that to my advantage.

                                There was an early version of that on Daggett Ave in Pawtucket RI in the 80's. The local residents made the city put up a permanent one housed in brick at the end of the road with flashing lights and everything. The reason was that the street is long and strait with a center divider and people tend to go fast down the street. It's also bordered by a cemetery so it's nice and quiet ... apparently the danger of speeding is that good Christian folks who are resurrected during the rapture could get hit I suppose.

                                Anyway, it had the opposite effect. It didn't take long for kids to start using the road as a dragstrip. I'm still trying to get one of those portable ones to flash "99" myself (c:
