    Anyone else here love sushi?

So after an extended visit at my aunt's house near Philly i've realized I love sushi. I normally just eat it once in a blue moon when I get it at Wegman's, but after finding so many sushi places down here i've had it nearly 10 times in the 15 days i've been here. Anybody else love the stuff?

I've found my favorites besides the standard tuna/salmon rolls are octopus, salmon roe (salmon eggs), mackeral, and eel.

I ADORE sushi. I could eat it every day, all the time. But I hate wasabi, so I guess I'm just weird.

I like sushi a lot, but there are times when I'm just not in the mood for it.

I used to hate the stuff too, but after learning to use it very sparingly (a little goes a LONG way) I like it. Using soy sauce with it kills with it some of the excessive bite it has and makes it enjoyable.

I still don't know what the pickeled ginger is for. Are you to eat it with the sushi or is it more of a palate cleanser between pieces?

I like Saba, Maguro, and Ebi sushi. Unagi isnt very good I think, but MAN oh MAN is Maguro the bomb.

Most stuff here(America) though is pretty much crap compared to the stuff I have had there(Japan) though.

            i love it!!!

i like the wasabi tobeko (sp) handrolls. basically wasabi rice seaweed and fish eggs. really good with some soy sauce... and then the tuna rolls and of course, what most people start on, california rolls!

funny thing is i dont like cooked fish. (ie grilled salmon... yuck!)

edit:: its 1:45 and talking about htis makes me want one. grrr...

The ginger is like parsley--it's there, and you can eat it if you want, but most just ignore it.

I prefer sashimi to sushi, and to me nothing can beat tuna! Mackerel is good too though.

Sushi? Someone say Sushi? You ought to try it when its still flopping on the deck of the boat! Now if the damn fish would come within range we might be able to go get some!

Last time I had sushi, my stomach revolted. But it was from a super market, so it wasn't of the best quality. I still want to try some quality sushi. Can anyone reccomend a type that would be suited for someone who doesnt love fish? Or something that isn't too strong that will turn me away from sushi forever?

Tuna and salmon don't have a fishy taste at all really. However, some of the lighter fishes do have a little bit of fishyness in their flavor as well as the roes.

Sweet Shrimp is excellent and there is a lot of sushi with cooked stuff in it that's great if some of the raw freaks you out (eel, octopus, etc.). Another one that is really good is Spider roll which is deep fried soft shell crab and vegetables.

It isnt sushi if the fish is cooked. Also, Maguro(tuna) tastes fishy pal. Iunno what you be eatin.

sushi from a supermarket nearly always sucks. The reason being because it is supposed to be served FRESH...not multiple hours/days old....thats asking for some food poisoning right there....

From what I've been told, the ginger is used to clean your pallette between the different sushi.

BTW - SUSHI is awesome... but I'm asian, so I like fish...

Yeah I've always heard the best way to eat tuna is to just cut a chunk out of a freshly caught fish. Gotta try that sometime...

                              re: fresh or fresh

Right out of the water is awesome. Back in school, my buddy and I would go out fishing towards Catalina. Couple of times (usually with chicks) we'd just whack the fish on the head, gut, clean, and filet. Helped that my bro's gf could roll sushi.

                              'Twas quite good.
