computer help. getting a laptop soon need help with games and specks i need

well im getting my own computer because my computer at my moms house is slow as hell it has a 900mhz prosesor and a 128 MBstick of ram and dosent have any programes or dvd or things on it.

and also im on my fathers pc all the time.


soo i thought to get a laptop so i can bring back and forth to my moms and dads house and anywere i go

i found this compaq laptop that im thinking in getting.

now im useing this laptop for mostly

music i have 23 gigs of it on itunes
games like half life 2, Battlefield 2, doom 3
videos like dvds, dvd burning paintball vids
work for school like typing and surfing the web to find things
and my trillan for chatting.


now my fathers computer works well for what i do but im not sure how it will work with games.

my dads computer has a 2.0 ghz prosesor 512mb stick of ram. cd burner, dvd rom, 120 gig hard drive.

now i was woundering if that laptop linked above is good for what i do and to play half-life 2 and or battlefield 2

please help me out on if its a good computer and or what to get.

i want it as a regular computer that i can also play some games that need good things in a computer to work well

the laptop is going to be my main computer but i wanted to know if the specks are good for gaming and for what im useing it for wich i said in the first post

first things first... Do not get a compaq. You get what you pay for. If you are looking to game on it I suggest a cheap alienware laptop. But what ever you get, make sure it has a ton of ram

i dont know my father has a compaq and works with no problems only thing that went wong with it was the hard drive crashed but thats the hard drive.

i would get a dell but really i custimized one jest like that compaq and it would cost me twise as more.

i looked at alienware laptops and to much for me right now

ill probibly get the compaq and tank it to a computer store to add a gig of ram to it

i keeped on thinking about that cuse i would like to get the xp media center pc soo i can have a dvr but i have a crappy computer at my moms house and im allways useing my dads at my dads soo if i get a pc i can only have it at once house and if i do that ill keep it at my dads cuse he has a cable modem and more tv channels for recording. my moms has dile up and like the basic of basic channels on dish

i would wather have a computer that i can take back and forth and also place like trips to my buds house or wherever
